2022 RBC Canadian Open Picks and Predictions

Welcome back degens! The 2022 RBC Canadian Open is here and it’s time to make some picks. Due to COVID, this is the first time this tournament has been played since 2019. This is also a course we haven’t seen since 2010. There is not a whole lot of history to parse through. Steve helps us by giving us a great breakdown of the course and what type of golfers we should be targeting. Go read his article here.

While the field is extremely top heavy and LIV has been soaking up all the attention this week, there is still money to be made. I know our friends up North are excited to have the tournament back. It is a lighter card for me this week, but there are definitely good bets to fatten the bankroll before the US Open next week.

For my full card, listen to the Golf Gambling Podcast for all my takes. With that said, let’s get to it! Here are my top picks for the 2022 RBC Canadian Open

2022 RBC Canadian Open Picks – Outright Bets

Tyrrell Hatton– 28/1

As you guys know, I don’t hide my love for Tyrrell Hatton. With so many guys under 20/1, I feel like I have decent value here. Hatton is coming off a 13th place finish at the PGA Championship and is trending in the right direction. His iron play is coming into form. as he gained almost 6 strokes tee-to-green at the PGA Championship.

Sand saves will be crucial at St. George’s Golf & Country Club. Hatton is 25th in this field in Sand Save %. And with his hot putter, I can see Hatton making a lot of birdies this week. Pick Tyrrell Hatton at the top of your 2022 RBC Canadian Open betting card.

Tony Finau – 30/1

Tony Finau is another guy I feel like I got value on. He comes in with two Top 5’s in his last 4 events. Other than the blip at the Wells Fargo Championship, his irons have been on fire. Finau gained almost 5 strokes on approach and over 10 total on the field at the Charles Schwab Challenge.

He isn’t great putter by any means, but his best surface is Bentgrass. And for whatever reason, Finau does have some great finishes outside the United States. Maybe another strong international showing is in order. Pick Tony Finau on your 2022 RBC Canadian Open betting card.

2022 RBC Canadian Open Picks – Other Props

Nick Taylor Top 20 – +700

I like to go for some bombs with my Top 20’s. Nick Taylor is the perfect longshot candidate. He recently finished 15th at the Wells Fargo Championship and gained over 4 strokes on approach at the Charles Schwab Challenge. He also has played well at other golf courses with small greens. He’s a former winner at Pebble Beach and finished 14th there again in 2022. His weakness is off-the-tee, but based on the 2010 event that category might not matter a lot this week. He could be in line for a strong finish on his home soil.

Other Top 20’s to Consider

  • Tony Finau +150
  • Tyler Duncan +500
  • Ryan Armour +600

Ryan Armour -110 over Harry Higgs

I love Harry Higgs. He’s one of the easiest guy to root for on the PGA Tour. But what exactly does he do well? Harry has only made six cuts all year and his 14th at the Masters is definitely the outlier. He hasn’t gained in a single iron stat since mid-April.

Meanwhile, this is a Ryan Armour type of golf course. And he has shown some signs of life lately. While he missed the cut recently at the AT&T Byron Nelson, it was solely because he lost almost five strokes putting. I expect his putter to come back on his favorite putting surface. Pick Armour to beat Harry Higgs on your 2022 RBC Canadian Open betting card.
