As I mentioned above, the US team took a defeat in the first game in the group stage against France. Despite holding a seven-point lead with four minutes remaining in the game, France took control down the stretch. In addition, Team USA missed six straight shots in the final minute of the game. They had several great looks but were not able to knock them down. Furthermore, Damian Lillard had two crucial turnovers in the final minute that secured the victory for France.
Tonight, Team USA looks to get into the winning column taking on Iran. This is a game where Team USA is going to have to pile it on for point differential if they want a chance to win this group. However, the top two teams from each group advance. However, this is a game where USA has to win wire to wire. In the game against France, Team USA shot only 36.2% from the field and 31.3% from beyond the arc. I am expecting USA to have a better shooting night. By no means do I want to lay the points with Team USA, but I think there is value in the first half spread for Team USA.
