It’s bowl season! While these games may be glorified exhibitions, they still provide us with another chance to watch college football, place some wagers, and play Draft Kings College Football DFS, of course.
This year’s bowl season starts off with the Myrtle Beach Bowl as the Appalachian State Mountaineers face off against the North Texas Mean Green. App State enters as a 19.5 point favorite so it would be wise to have at least half your lineup hail from Boone.
Additionally, North Texas has one of the worst defenses in the country. The let up over 40 points a game and allow opponents to average over 500 yards from scrimmage per game.
Here’s my line-up. Let’s do this!!
College Football Daily Fantasy Picks:
Captain: Camerun Peoples – App State, $12.6K
You have to load up on the App State backfield. My captain spot came down to either starting RB Camerun Peoples or often-used backup Nate Noel. It’s been about a 2/3 – 1/3 split the last few weeks. I’d actually recommend rostering both.
Over the last four weeks, Peoples is averaging over 100 rushing yards per game. He’ll go off bigtime against this awful run defense. Lock it up.
Flex: Zach Thomas – App State, $10.8K
Thomas has had somewhat of a disappointing senior season but I like the idea of rostering both QB’s in a game that should include a boat load of points.
Flex: Austin Aune – North Texas, $10.6K
North Texas will split snaps at QB but Austin Aune is the one to own. The App State defense has not been as good as usual this year and North Texas will be able to move the ball.
Flex: Nate Noel – App State, $6.4K
As mentioned above, I love taking both Mountaineer running backs in this game. Daetrich Harrington is definitely out and I’d expect Marcus Williams to also miss this game. That leaves us with Peoples and Noel to handle the rock like they have the last few games.
Even with playing second-fiddle to Peoples, Noel is averaging 12 carries and 75 yards over the last four games. There’s a decent chance both of these guys clear 100 and find pay dirt.
Flex: Oscar Adaway III – North Texas, $5.8K
North Texas will divvy up carries to a handful of running backs but at only $5.8K, Adaway III may be the best option to roster. DeAndre Torry is $1.4K more expensive but he’s been losing carries the last few weeks.
Flex: Austin Ogunmakin – North Texas, $3.2K
All-world WR Jaelon Darden has opted out plus Jyaire Shorter remains sidelined with an injury. This should open up more opportunities for Ogunmakin who has been the team’s 3rd leading receiver this year.
