NFL Week 14 Preview: Odds and Betting Trends

NFL Week Odds 14

The Pittsburgh Steelers (11-1) are unbeaten no more following a stunning 23-17 loss to the Washington Football Team on Monday, and next they travel to Buffalo to meet the AFC East-leading Bills (9-3) as 1.5-point road underdogs in the Week 14 Sunday night matchup.

The Steelers are listed as underdogs on the NFL odds for just the second time this season at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com, and the Bills are coming off an impressive 34-24 win over the San Francisco 49ers as 1.5-point road dogs while playing in Arizona for the second time this year.

Pittsburgh is now tied with the Kansas City Chiefs (11-1) for the best record in the conference – and the NFL – as they battle it out for the No. 1 seed with just four weeks remaining. Buffalo is currently the No. 3 seed in the AFC and leads its division by one game over the Miami Dolphins, who host Kansas City as seven-point home underdogs on Sunday. The good news for the Steelers and their backers is that they have gone 10-2 straight up and against the spread in the past 12 meetings with the Bills, according to the OddsShark NFL Database.

The Chiefs play their next two games on the road, visiting the NFC-leading New Orleans Saints (10-2) in Week 15’s biggest matchup after taking on the Dolphins. Kansas City has lost in seven of its last nine trips to Miami, which has also gone 9-2 ATS in its last 11 home games. Meanwhile, the Saints visit the Philadelphia Eagles (3-8-1) as seven-point road favorites on Sunday as well. The Saints are 5-1 SU in the past six meetings with the Eagles, who are riding a four-game losing streak overall (1-3 ATS). New Orleans has covered five in a row overall.

The Green Bay Packers (9-3) sit one game behind the Saints in the race for the No. 1 seed in the NFC, and they will visit the Detroit Lions (4-8) in a divisional game on Sunday. The Packers are 7.5-point road favorites at online sports betting sites against the Lions, who are a surprising 6-1 ATS in the past seven meetings. Detroit has lost eight of nine SU at home though, going 1-4 ATS in its last five there.

In addition, the Los Angeles Rams (8-4) have an outside shot at claiming the top seed in the NFC, and they will kick off Week 14 as 5-point home favorites versus the New England Patriots (6-6) on Thursday Night Football. The Rams are tied with the Seattle Seahawks (8-4) atop the NFC West but hold the tiebreaker right now. Los Angeles visits Seattle in Week 16. New England is still in the AFC playoff picture and will be playing in Los Angeles for the second consecutive week after crushing the Chargers 45-0 as two-point road underdogs last Sunday.

The Seahawks are coming off a disappointing 17-12 loss to the New York Giants (5-7) as 11-point home favorites last week, and they will host the winless New York Jets (0-12) as 13.5-point chalk this Sunday. The Giants are tied with Washington for the lead in the NFC East, and they are 2.5-point home underdogs against the Arizona Cardinals (6-6). Washington (5-7) will visit San Francisco in Arizona as a 3.5-point road dog fresh off its upset victory at Pittsburgh.
