NFL Gambling Stats Week 8 and Best Bets
Atlanta Falcons vs Carolina Panthers
Atlanta Falcons Defense
The Atlanta Falcons rank dead last in yards per play allowed giving up 6.6. Also, they rank #29 in opponent yards per completion (11.8). Furthermore, Falcons are giving up 29.5 points per game. Lastly, Falcons are ranked dead last in opponent yards per attempt at 8.5. The defense is allowing 333 yards through the air. As a result, I fully expect the Panthers to have success through the air in the Thursday Night matchup.
Carolina Panthers Defense
Panthers defense is giving up 5.6 yards per play. However, the glaring stat for the Panthers is, they allow their opponents close to five yards per rush attempt which ranks #28 in the entire league. The defense is allowing 124 yards rushing per game. I fully expect the Falcons to establish the run against a weak Panthers rush defense and build the play action pass off of it to push the ball down the field.
Best Bet: Falcons/Panthers Over 51.5
Las Vegas Raiders vs Cleveland Browns
Raiders Defense
Raiders defense is allowing 6.3 yards per play translating to a bottom ranking of #29. Additionally, the defense allows 11.8 yards per completion #28, and 4.6 yards per rush #24. Raiders are coming off a Week 7 matchup versus the Tampa Bay Bucs where they allowed 45 points. Now, this Raiders defense travels into Cleveland who’s offense is playing well thus far this season despite injuries. Lastly, Raiders on the road are allowing 32.6 points per game.
Browns Offense
Even though the Browns offense loses one of their top wide receivers, Odell Beckham Jr. to a torn ACL, the Browns offense has kept on chugging. The stand alone stat for the Browns has been their rushing attack. In addition, Kareem Hunt has filled in as the feature back for the Browns nicely. Browns offense ranks #4 in yards per rush attempt. Cleveland Browns are averaging 28.5 points per game, and more so averaging 33.1 points per game at home.
Best Bet: Cleveland Browns Over 27
Dallas Cowboys vs Philadelphia Eagles
Cowboys Defense
Cowboys defense continues to be awful this season, and the stats do not lie. As a result, the defense ranks #30 in yards per completion, and #31 in yards per rush allowed. Furthermore, the Cowboys are allowing 34.7 points per game. Cowboys defense ranks #24 in yards per play allowed (6.0). Cowboys are now playing their second straight road game. Philadelphia Eagles will have the rest advantage and I expect the Eagles offense to make adjustments and be locked in to score points against one of the worst defenses in the league. I will continue to fade the Cowboys defense.
