We get two Monday Night Football games tonight! That means two slates of DraftKings Monday Night Showdown Picks!
The fun and excitement of a fast and furious Sunday of football is over. We now look towards Monday Night Football. This week brings us two battles between two veteran quarterbacks squaring off against two second-year gunslingers. Fantasy points may not be as plentiful here in these games, so we must be wise about where we put our money. This will lead to some unique approaches and rosters you may not see again for the rest of the season.
Showdown slates are tricky in that everyone is working from the same small player pool. Where you make your money is in how you differentiate yourself from the pack while still rostering the studs.
With that in mind, we gear up for our traditional opening week two game MNF slates with three plays for each matchup. These picks are meant to give you a solid start at building your lineups, not full rosters.

DraftKings Monday Night Showdown Picks: Giants vs. Steelers
Captain – Darius Slayton $7,800: WR New York
Slayton is set for a remarkable season and it should begin Monday night. He’s talented, he’s fast, and he has a hot, young quarterback throwing him the ball. He will be heavily owned across the board, but you can separate yourself by putting him at the top of your DraftKings Monday Night showdown picks.
To be able to roster arguably the best Giants receiver at this price is a steal, especially as your Captain. Sliding him here frees up money for your obligatory Saquon Barkley play. It also let’s you play around at your other flex spots.
Flex – Eric Ebron $6,400: TE Pittsburgh
Ben Roethlisberger loves his tight ends. From Heath Miller to Vance McDonald, Big Ben has always had a special connection with his giant pass catchers. Now he has Ebron. The former Lion and Colt has the same amount of big play potential as any tight end Roethlisberger has ever had.
He’s received plenty of positive reports out of camp, so he should see enough volume. If he is able to find a rhythm with his new quarterback, this could turn into a big DraftKings Monday Night showdown picks night for Ebron believers.
Flex – Diontae Johnson $5,800: WR Pittsburgh
While the world was enamored with JuJu last season, Johnson turned in a respectable rookie campaign. His 680 receiving yards were second on the team behind James Washington.
The most attractive thing about him is his price. Because you will have to roster Barkley, you need to find value elsewhere. Johnson is your best opportunity to do just that.
DraftKings Monday Night Showdown Picks: Titans vs. Broncos
Captain – Jonnu Smith $8,700: TE Tennessee
This slate is almost forcing you to get creative. Much like Barkley, you can’t get away with not having Derrick Henry in your DraftKings Monday Night showdown picks. The problem with that is Henry’s price tag. At almost half your overall budget from the captain’s spot, you would have to get beyond creative to fill your roster. At least with Smith in that position, you can select a few more players that might actually touch the ball.
The shadow of Delanie Walker has lifted in Nashville and standing alone now is Smith. He is coming off his most productive season as a pro to boot. The Broncos are suddenly without Von Miller which bodes well for the Titan’s passing game. Smith should benefit as well.
Flex – Noah Fant $6,200: TE Denver
Again, this slate makes it all but impossible to load up on high dollar players. Fant offers a chance for a value play with upside.
With the Courtland Sutton on the injury radar, the stock for Fant increases. If Sutton misses this game, the Broncos are without a true number one wideout. That being the case, Drew Lock will have to turn to a familiar target between Melvin Gordon carries.
Flex – Titans Defense $5,000
The over/under for this game comes in at 41 points. This does not speak highly of the oddsmakers’ faith in either offense. This also leaves plenty of room for a defense to be in play. With a healthy Von Miller, that play may have been the Broncos going against a potentiality Sutton-less wide receiver corps. Now that he is no longer a factor, this puts Tennessee’s defensive squad slightly ahead.
It might seem tempting to dip even lower for the Denver defense, but if Sutton does not play, there is no real salary relief to be found.
