Degen Madness Day Five Recaps
LSU 50 – Villanova 45
Spread : Villanova -5.5
Total : 90.5
This contest opened up the fifth day of action in the Degen Madness Tournament. Underdogs continue to roll on, and you almost had the feeling that LSU was in control of this one the whole way. Villanova made things into a ballgame in the second half, but the Tigers showed determination. LSU continued to fight off the attempts of the Wildcats as they held on to pull the cover and upset, advancing to the second round in the process.

Colorado 60 – Kentucky 47
Spread : Kentucky -5.5
Total : 84
Did I mention that the dogs continued to bark? Colorado got off to a slow start early in the game. However as the tournament has shown that’s probably the best position to be in. The Buffaloes continued to fight, and next think we knew they were holding a small lead at halftime. Kentucky came out flat in the second half, and they never could really recover. Colorado cruised away for another upset and also our largest margin of victory so far.

Degen Madness Day Six Recaps
Texas Tech 45 – Florida State 38
Spread : Florida State -3
Total : 80.5
Florida State hopped out in front early in this game, one of the most dangerous positions in Degen Madness. Texas Tech came out flat, but once they found their stroke they came out swinging. Seminole backers felt as though they still had a chance until late in the second quarter. However, the Red Raiders pieced together a run and never looked back. Texas Tech took care of business fairly easily, notching the third upset in a row in Degen Madness.

Houston 42 – Seton Hall 40
Spread : Seton Hall -4
Total : 89.5
If you looked in a basketball dictionary, this game would be the picture for a slow start. This contest was low-scoring early, and Seton Hall looked outmatched for much of the game. In fact, the Pirates didn’t even break ten points until 3:29 left in the second quarter. Houston let off the gas some, even allowing Seton Hall to take the lead for parts of the second half. However, the Cougars were able to close things out, marking the fourth straight upset.

Degen Madness Day Seven Recaps
West Virginia 41 – Duke 37
The last day of games in the first round action certainly didn’t disappoint. Throw everything you knew about these teams out the window, because West Virginia dominated this game. This contest was back and forth throughout the first half, however all that changed in the second half. Duke couldn’t get anything going after halftime as the Mountaineers slowly pulled away. West Virginia took down the blue-blooded Blue Devils for the fifth straight upset.

Arizona 70 – Michigan State 63 (2OT)
Spread : Michigan State -2
Total : 94
Arizona made an impossible five point comeback in this exciting, back and forth battle with 30 seconds left in regulation, capped by a corner three at the buzzer to tie. Michigan State found themselves holding a three point lead with 4.9 left in the first overtime, but the Wildcats were once again able to tie on a three with 2.1 left to force a second overtime. With all of the momentum now on the side of Arizona, they used this to pull away in the second extra period. This capped off an incredible end to the first round action, and also notched the sixth straight upset.
