Kentucky Derby Preview

Where: Churchill Downs Louisville, Kentucky, USA

With March Madness winding down and nothing but NBA and MLB on the horizon lets get excited about a non human sport…that’s right horse racing. It’s a rich mans sport. Why else would it be legal and prestigious, meanwhile casinos and sports books are viewed as society draining fixtures of low income areas? Chicken or the egg I guess. Anyway it’s never to early to start building excitement for the Triple Crown which of course starts with the Kentucky Derby.

Strategy
As far as strategy goes with such a large field and relatively short distance it is almost always a good idea to look for some horses in the 10-1 – 25-1 range. There is just too much that can go wrong in this type of race to want to lay steep odds for a favorite. One thing I strongly suggest to those interested in this world is, take the time to learn how to read a racing daily form and try to form your own opinion. That is most of the fun for me, am I smarter than the public? Can I gain an advantage? I’ll never understand the concept of following others or buying picks. Form an opinion and back it with confidence, after all whats the worst that can happen…you lose?
