We’re officially halfway through the Chase. Just five races remain in the NASCAR Cup Series season before a champion, the first in the new era of the Chase, is crowned. Next up, they take to Charlotte Motor Speedway. Not the Roval, as has been the fall race since 2018. Back to the 1.5-mile traditional oval, which hasn’t held a 400-miler since October 8th, 2017. Let’s dive into this week’s NASCAR picks, odds, and best bets for the Bank of America 400 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Chase Briscoe picked up his seventh career win last week at Las Vegas in a thriller down to the end, with Kyle Larson giving it everything he had in his Kyle Busch #5 Kellogg’s throwback car. Tyler Reddick came home third, while Denny Hamlin had issues during the race after starting on the pole and having the fastest car early in the race.
The second-place run extended Kyle Larson’s championship lead to 40 points over Hamlin, who remains second. Christopher Bell fell to -55 after power steering issues hampered his day. Joey Logano stays in striking distance, 71 points back. Ryan Blaney rounds out the top five just 80 points back. Briscoe, who had a nearly perfect day by scoring 75 of a possible 76 points, cuts his margin down to just 84 points back in sixth place.

Kyle Larson Top Chevy (+110)
We’ll run this bet back from last week at Las Vegas. Like last week, this one is pretty simple for me. One of the most talented race car drivers in the world is catching fire at the right time, and has hit this the last two weeks at almost identical tracks? Sign me up. As far as the market goes, top Chevy protects us from a lot of things. If Denny Hamlin, Christoper Bell, Chase Briscoe, Tyler Reddick, Joey Logano, and other Toyotas or Fords are strong, we can still hit this.
William Byron is the main Chevy driver who scares me again this week. He’s been solid on the 1.5-mile tracks, and strong here at Charlotte. Outside of Byron, Elliott is the next driver to worry about, he’s usually solid but not dominant. I expect Larson to dominate this race once again and easily be the top-finishing Chevrolet in the race.
Chase Elliott Top 10 (+100)
Another no-brainer for me this week is Chase Elliott to finish top 10. Elliott hasn’t been overly flashy this season, but he’s finished consistently, something he’s always good at. Last week at Las Vegas, he finished seventh. At Kansas the week before, it was an eighth-place run for the driver of the #9. At Chicagoland, he missed the top 10 by one spot, but earlier this year at the other 1.5-mile races he won at Texas and scored top 10s at Las Vegas and Kansas in the spring. Consistency is the name of Elliott’s game. Let’s rely on that for this bet.
Kyle Larson to Win (+470)
It may be a boring pick, but how do you not bet on this man right now? His average finish over the last four races is 1.5. At Kansas two weeks ago, Larson put down an old-school butt whooping. Last week at Las Vegas, his car was terrible. Cliff Daniels made the call to take the time to adjust it, and turned it into a rocket ship. After falling a lap down, Larson fought back and had a shot at the win at the end of the day. His Chase run is reminiscent of Tony Stewart or Jimmie Johnson. Let’s keep this iron in the fire.
