College Football Pick Of The Day (September 25th): NCAA Week 4 Total Pick
For today’s college football pick of the day, I’m looking at Oklahoma and Georgia. This one looks like a defensive battle, and the total is currently sitting at 44.5. That may sound low given Georgia’s scoring average, but I think it holds or even drops as we near Saturday’s kickoff. Oklahoma is 2-1 and allowing just 7.7 points per game. This won’t be a walk in the park for Georgia.
For a long time, the Sooners have been known for their defense. They’ve given up 23 points this season and held Michigan to 17 and New Mexico to 6. Sure, the offense has struggled. That buys into the under. Even though Georgia’s offense is feasting on weaker competition at 59.3 points per game. Again, though, against lower competition.
Georgia’s defense is no slouch either. They’ve allowed 211.3 yards and 13.3 points per game. Oklahoma’s offense looks limited on paper at 25 points per game, but that production mainly came early. Meanwhile, Georgia has played three games and has allowed a total of 40 points.
If you look at the games that were against bigger-school competition, Oklahoma lost at Michigan 17-10 and barely beat New Mexico 14-6. Georgia crushed Arkansas 45-17, but that was not this Sooner defense. Sanford Stadium is loud, but Oklahoma doesn’t change who they are on the road. These two defenses rank among the best in the SEC in yards allowed. Georgia won 54-48 in their only previous meeting years ago. They aren’t that pair of offenses anymore. 27-13 or 24-10 feels like a plausible score. I’m taking the under.
