College Football Pick Of The Day (September 22nd): NCAA Week 4 Spread Pick
For today’s College Football pick of the day, I’m looking at the James Madison at Old Dominion game. This line feels off to me. I know that Old Dominion is the home team. However, they’re currently 1-2 and 0-3 against the spread. Last week, they played East Carolina (another 1-2 team) and lost 20-17 on their own home turf.
Now, they’ll face James Madison. They are 3-0 straight up and 3-0 against the spread so far. They covered as +2.5-point dogs last week against San Diego State. In fact, they won that game outright, 26-13, at San Diego State’s home turf. They also beat up on Wagner 87-3 and Liberty 20-13. Now they take on Old Dominion, and the spread is only six points. Why?
These two teams don’t seem to be on the same level, in my opinion. Last year they played at James Madison’s home stadium, and JMU won 63-27. They were three-point favorites in that one. That wasn’t a poor Old Dominion team either. They finished 10-3. Sure, they lost Alonza Barnett III to UCF. Arrington Maiden has picked up this offense well.
James Madison is on a mission under Billy Napier, and the mission is clear. Play clean football, take care of business, and cover spreads. JMU covering the spread against Old Dominion is a hill I’m willing to die on. Take them -6 before this line gets north of a touchdown.
