After an action packed Noche UFC, the UFC stays on the road in Los Angeles, California. UFC 331 is live in the crypto.com Arena and features a flyweight title fight at the top. After a freak injury in their first meeting, Alexandre Pantoja gets a chance at redemption against current champion Joshua Van. There are tons of bangers on this card and it’s sure to have the crowd on its feet.

Prelim Pick of the Week: UFC 331
UFC Middleweight Fight: Edmen Shahbazyan vs Brunno Ferreira
Start Time: Saturday (9/19) 5:00pm EST (Paramount+)
The middleweight division has a lot of guys nipping at the heels of the top 15 and Saturday’s event features two of them. Edmen Shahbazyan has won three out of his last four fights with a pair of finishes. His only loss came against #4-ranked Brendan Allen. Brunno Ferreira is in a similar spot with a 3-2 mark in his last five fights – with losses only being to ranked fighters as well.
While the difference in this fight could be many different things, I expect Ferreira to be able to do more damage. While Shahbazyan has plenty of finishes with his hands, his power is often much more cumulative. Ferreira has the ability to end a fight in a blink and often lands the strikes that the judges remember.
Additionally, I like Ferreira’s chances of staying in advantageous positions in this one. Shahbazyan has given up takedowns in four of his last five fights. In the past, those takedowns have cost him the fight. Ferreira, meanwhile, has not lost a fight in the UFC in which he scored at least one takedown. I expect those to help him again here as he scores an upset for us.
