Thanks everyone for checking out How To Bet March Madness. I’m Sean Green from the Sports Gambling Podcast here to explain how to bet on March Madness. March Madness is a gambling Nirvana. You have a ton of back to back to back to back games. Oh man, it’s so exciting to watch your hopes and dreams rely on one 19 year old kid at the foul line. So we’re going to hopefully make it a gambling heaven and not a gambling hell with these tips.
One thing to keep in mind when betting on March Madness is to ignore the seed number. Now, yeah, sure a one’s going to beat a 16 unless it’s UVA and a two is going to beat a 15 unless it’s Duke going up against Lehigh, but for the most part, you can just throw the seed number completely out. Because it doesn’t really matter where they were seated in the tournament. It matters how they’re playing now and how they match up against each other.
In 2011 in a rare stroke of brilliance, the NCAA decided to add four more teams and what does that mean? Well, first it means more gambling opportunities, but since 2011 one of those First Four teams has always won at least two games. LaSalle actually won three games and why? Because they’re coming in hot. They’re coming in with momentum going up against these teams that are completely cold, so you’re going to find one of those first four teams to make a run.
What if I told you there was a trend that hit 25 out of 28 years? You’d want to bet on that, right? Well then that means you want to bet on the 12 seed winning outright against the five seed. There’s going to be value because one of these 12 seeds are going to get the upset win. There are four of them, one hit, two hit. Either way, you’re probably going to be up because of the money lines, so trust the 12 seed against the five seed. I don’t know. I couldn’t explain why it doesn’t really matter. You’re going to win. Just trust the process.
When it comes to March Madness, when in doubt bet the coach Tom Izzo, Jim Boeheim, those are great coaches and it really pays off in March Madness. Why? Because of the quick turnaround. They have a game on Thursday, they get another game on Saturday, they got a game on Friday, they got another game on Sunday. They’re playing against teams they may not normally play. They’re playing in weird stadiums. They got their kids going out, getting super liquored up. They got to deal with everything. And these veteran coaches like Boeheim, like Izzo, consistently win more than they’re expected to. Those are the guys you want to back in the tournament.
If you listen to the Sports Gambling Podcast you know one of our favorite March Madness betting strategies is the first half. Take all 32 even the First Four, get it up to 34 first half unders. Now you may seem like a psycho rooting against every shot in the first half, but there’s a formula to it. There’s a science to it. They’re playing in stadiums they’ve never played in before. They’re nervous cause it’s March Madness. They’re on television for the first time. “I’m from Akron. I don’t know what to do when I’m on television for a basketball game!” I’m going to get nervous. I’m going to brick a couple of shots. It takes a while for them to get warmed up and find a rhythm, and you want to take advantage of that from a gambling perspective.
Finally, I know you’re going to play a bracket and you should go play a bracket, fill out a bracket. They’re fun. $20 $50 whatever it is. Yeah, throw in the bracket, fill out your bracket. You’re not going to win. That’s not how you’re going to win money in March Madness. You’re going to win money on March Madness by betting on these individual games. The first half unders, the coaches, the 12 seed, upsetting the five seeds, ignoring the seeding altogether. That’s how you’re going to make money in March Madness, and you can do it over at MyBookie.ag where you can play win and get paid.
