MMA Regional Pick of the Week: Road to UFC
PFL Bantamweight Fight: Rabindra Dhant vs Kasib Murdoch
Card Start Time: Friday (8/28), 5:00am EST (UFC Fight Pass)
The Road to UFC tournaments head to the semifinal round this weekend. Each of the four weight classes have their two sides of the bracket coming to close. Perhaps the most riveting of those brackets comes in the 135lbs class.
Rabindra Dhant is the darling of Nepal. He’s aiming to put them on the MMA map with an exciting brand of striking and pace. Eight of his ten wins have come by way of a knockout. That includes a second round TKO of Kimbert Alintozon in the quarterfinals. Although he’s a dangerous fighter, he may have run into his match when he collides with Kasib Murdoch.
The New Zealand born Kasib Murdoch has run through all eight of the opponents that he’s faced, but in a much different way than Dhant. He brings a smothering grappling style that makes it look like he’s glued to his opponent. If he’s able to get in on Dhant, he can quickly get to his strength while taking away the best aspects of Dhant’s game. That could make for a short morning on Friday.
