MMA Regional Pick of the Week: LFA 239
LFA Bantamweight Fight: Marcos Breno vs Bektur Zhenishbek Uulu
Card Start Time: Friday (8/21), 7:30pm EST (VICE TV)
LFA 239’s main card took some hits over the last couple of weeks. Luis Francischinelli was pulled from the co-main event to fight in Dana White’s Contender Series and Gianni Vazquez was ripped from the main event to head directly back to the UFC. Despite that, we still have some bangers on this main card, including one with a great line.
Marcos Breno comes into this fight as an underdog for a good reason. Not only has he lost two straight, but he hasn’t fought in nearly two years. While that has him instilled as over a 3-to-1 underdog, don’t be too quick to write him off. If you watch back his last fight with Raufeon Stots, he was constantly landing the 1-2 and even stunned the former Bellator champ. He brought some solid takedown defense early on in the fight as well.
Bektur Zhenishbek Uulu brings an undefeated record into this one and as plenty of people hyped. However, he comes up in weight for this one having been a flyweight for the bulk of his career. Not only that, but we saw him struggle a bit against his only real competition during that 5-0 run – a decision win in ONE FC. He may be the prospect that people hope for, but if his wrestling can’t get going against the bigger fighter, he will be the slower striker. That gives us a clear path to victory for the big underdog.
