The Red Sox and the Blue Jays gave us some early success in the NRFI market on Wednesday. We’ll look to keep that momentum going as we inch closer to the weekend. We have some NRFI bets for August 13.
Thursday’s docket has just nine games across the league. Come check out what we have cooked up for this slate of games.

MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – August 13
Boston Red Sox vs. Toronto Blue Jays
First Pitch – 3:07 pm EST
Rogers Centre – Toronto, ON
Broadcast – ESPN
After getting us a cash on an NRFI play on Wednesday, we’ll ride this series again. That’s because the once hot Red Sox lineup has fallen on hard times. Following their eight-game winning streak, they lost four straight (going into Wednesday). In those games, they scored just ten total runs for an average of 2.50 runs per game. They also continue to struggle in the first inning, where they rank 26th in runs per game. That’s good news for Max Scherzer, who gets the ball for the Blue Jays. Although his season hasn’t been kind to him, he’s been sharp lately. Over his last three starts, he has posted a 2.57 ERA and struck out nearly one per inning. That version should be able to keep Boston in check.
Closing out the NRFI, we’ll get Payton Tolle who has been a stud. He’s rocking a 3.20 ERA over the course of this season and has fanned 124 in just 107.0 innings. He’s coming off his very best outing of the year – sitting down 14 Athletics in 6.0 innings of work. Thursday afternoon should be even lighter work for him with Toronto struggling with the bats. They rank 29th in the league in runs scored and nobody is worse than them in the first inning.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for August 13: No (TBD)
Texas Rangers vs. Los Angeles Angels
First Pitch – 10:07 pm EST
Angel Stadium – Anaheim, CA
Broadcast – MLB TV
Texas gets the first ups here and they have not been all that threatening this year. They rank 25th in the league in run scoring and have a tall task ahead of them on Thursday. Walbert Urena has a 2.83 ERA and has held five of his last six opponents to one run or less. On the year, he’s thrown 9.0 innings against the Rangers and allowed just one run on six hits. He’s racked up 10 strikeouts in those starts as well, so if he can bring that same heat, he should get three quick outs.
To close this one out, we’ll rest on the trusty arm of Jacob deGrom. While he may not be the guy who won a pair of Cy Young Awards anymore, he has been strong. He carries a 3.87 ERA into action on Thursday and ranks in the top 15 of the league in terms of strikeouts. Being that the Angels are one of the five teams that are worse than the Rangers at scoring runs, I fully expect him to button this one up for us.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for August 13: No (TBD)
Bonus Pick: Guardians/Tigers NRFI (TBD)
