The Dallas Cowboys have a habit of making every offseason feel important. According to Jordan “J Tuck” Tucker, though, 2026 actually feels different.
J Tuck of CFO Sports joins Smalls for the 2026 Dallas Cowboys preview after a season defined by two radically different units. Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens and the offense gave Dallas plenty of firepower, while a historically bad defense helped keep the Cowboys out of the playoffs.
That defense becomes the biggest reason for optimism entering 2026.
Dallas added Rashan Gary, Kenny Clark and Caleb Downs to a group that already features Quinnen Williams, while Christian Parker takes over as defensive coordinator. J Tuck believes Parker represents a major philosophical shift for an organization traditionally drawn toward familiar veteran coaches. Parker brings youth, energy and a modern approach, and J Tuck is particularly interested in what he can do with Dallas’ young secondary.
George Pickens also receives a glowing review. Despite entering the season on the franchise tag, Pickens has participated fully and impressed throughout camp. Smalls points out that continued production should earn Pickens the contract he wants. J Tuck agrees — while joking that he would prefer Pickens not play so well that Dallas can no longer afford him.
The betting discussion begins with Dallas’ 9.5-win total, but J Tuck prefers the Cowboys’ price to win the NFC East. Philadelphia has undergone significant changes, Washington should improve and even the Giants could become more competitive, leaving the division considerably tighter than in recent seasons.
Fantasy players should keep an eye on Javonte Williams. J Tuck sees a clear path to heavy volume because Dallas currently lacks an obvious challenger for carries. He also names Ryan Flournoy as a deep sleeper and likes Jake Ferguson at his current cost.
His favorite player future emerges almost accidentally. When Smalls tells him Dak Prescott’s passing-touchdown total sits at 27.5, J Tuck immediately takes the over and eventually calls it a “free gift.”
His final prediction: roughly 10–11 wins, contention for the NFC East and a playoff appearance if Dallas stays healthy.
