MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – July 25

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Washington Nationals

First Pitch – 4:05 pm EST
Nationals Park – Washington DC
Broadcast – MLB TV

The top of the first of our first NRFI play should be no sweat at all. Arizona continues to be one of the worst teams when it comes to scoring first inning runs. They rank 23rd in the majors and haven’t scored a first inning run in three straight games. Now they’ll have to change the tune against All-Star Foster Griffin. He’s been lights out all year – with a 2.68 ERA and 111 strikeouts. He hasn’t allowed more than an earned run in a single start since May 30th. That’s put his ERA over the last two months at 1.25.

The bottom of the inning is going to be a bit more of a sweat with the Nationals hitting the ball so well. They have been one of the best scoring teams in the league, but I’m going to put my faith in Mitch Bratt. Despite having only three starts in the majors, I like the stuff he has shown. He’s extremely slider, slurve and sinker heavy, which should bode well against this lefty top of the order for Washington. Plus, in the minors, Bratt showed plenty of strikeout stuff, which I think could show up more here.

NRFI/YRFI Bet for July 25: No (+100)

Houston Astros vs. Chicago White Sox

First Pitch – 7:10 pm EST
Rate Field – Chicago, IL
Broadcast – MLB TV

Sean Burke toes the rubber to start this one. He enters the game holding a 3.20 ERA. He’s also fanned 120 batters on the season, which puts him in the top 25 in the league. While those numbers are enough to tail on their own, you have to love how he’s looked over the last month. Over his last six starts, he’s not allowed more than two runs in any of those starts and that has earned him a 1.40 ERA. Even with the Astros hitting well lately, he should be able to keep them in check for three outs.

The White Sox have been an above average team when it comes to hitting as well. However, they have run into a little bit of a slump lately. They scored just nine total runs over their last three games, which includes being shut out in Arlington. They’ll face the always formidable Hunter Brown. He has a 4.05 ERA on the year and seems to be finding his feet after returning in June. His strikeout stuff is always there with 9.68 strikeouts per nine.

NRFI/YRFI Bet for July 25: No (-115)

Bonus Pick: Mariners/Rangers NRFI (-125)

Looking to put together a three-pick parlay? This extra play may just be the piece that you’re looking for. Throw it together with the other two to net a three-pick parlay of +573.
