Daily World Cup Best Bets – June 25th

Curaçao vs. Ivory Coast

Kickoff – 4:00 pm EST
Lincoln Financial Field – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Broadcast – FS1

While a lot of people might see this match on the radar and expect a blowout, there is really no reason for Ivory Coast to run up the score here. As long as they don’t drop this one to Curaçao, they are going to take second in the group and move on to the knockout stage. Meanwhile, Curaçao’s offense has been rudderless all tournament. Apart from the brief bit of inspiration in the 21st minute of their 7-1 loss to Germany, they haven’t really threatened anything.

Look for Amad Diallo and Franck Kessié to create some early chances for the guys up from and then possess for the rest of this one.

Best Bets for Curaçao/Ivory Coast: Ivory Coast -1.5 (-200) and Under 3.5 Goals (-150)

Ecuador vs. Germany

Kickoff – 4:00 pm EST
MetLife Stadium – East Rutherford, New Jersey
Broadcast – FOX

It isn’t often you’re going to get a Germany goal-line like this at underdog prices. However, the books are putting a lot of stock in Ecuador holding Ivory Coast to just one goal. Although that is an impressive feat, their defense has shown signs of weakness at points. Ivory Coast got a bit unlucky in that one – coming up short of their 1.52 expected goals.

With the way that Joshua Kimmich creates for Germany, and the number of finishers that they have, I expect this one to be a lot less close than the books are indicating.

Best Bets for Ecuador/Germany: Germany -1.5 (+145) and Over 2.5 Goals (-155)

Tunisia vs. Netherlands

Kickoff – 7:00 pm EST
Arrowhead Stadium – Kansas City, Missouri
Broadcast – FS1

After drawing Japan to open the tournament, the Netherlands finds themselves in a dead heat to win the group entering matchday three. Each of those two squads has a win and a draw to go along with a +4 goal differential. That leaves each looking to blow their final opponents out of the water for a chance to win the group.

The Netherlands should be able to do just that. Tunisia has lost each of their last three games (two in this tournament and one friendly) by at least four goals. With this much on the line, it’s hard to imagine that the Netherlands aren’t able to put up a gaudy number as well.

Best Bets for Tunisia/Netherlands: Netherlands -3.5 (+185) and Over 3.5 Goals (+100)

Japan vs. Sweden

Kickoff – 7:00 pm EST
AT&T Stadium – Arlington, Texas
Broadcast – FOX

As previously mentioned, this is a game where Japan needs to win to move on, but needs to win big to take the group. The Netherlands staring at a cake walk in a game with Tunisia likely doesn’t help Japan’s case. However, with the consolation prize of second getting a round of 32 run in with Brazil, you know Japan will need to go for it.

While Sweden has not looked great, the aggression from the Japanese squad is likely to open up some channels for them here. They found some late pressure when they faced the Netherlands last time out. While I think Japan is ultimately the better team, look for Sweden to aid in the over cashing here.

Best Bets for Japan/Sweden: Japan ML (-110) and Over 2.5 Goals (-110)

Turkiye vs. United States

Kickoff – 10:00 pm EST
SoFi Stadium – Inglewood, California
Broadcast – FOX

Turkiye entered this tournament as a team that really didn’t challenge themselves with friendlies coming in, and are playing as such. Playing up a man against Paraguay for a full half, they continued to struggle to find a finish. It seems like everyone on their team had a real chance to score in that one and yet nobody was particularly close.

On the other side, the United States seems to have a nose for the goal this year. They came out with aggression in both games and built themselves early leads. Upon getting Christian Pulisic back on Thursday, they should be in an even better spot to do that yet again.

Best Bets for Turkiye/United States: United States -2.5 (+600) and Over 2.5 Goals (-150)

Paraguay vs. Australia

Kickoff – 10:00 pm EST
Levi’s Stadium – Santa Clara, California
Broadcast – FS1

This is one of those situations where two guns have been drawn and both stand afraid to pull the trigger. That’s not because neither has bullets – although there is some question there – but rather because pressure does nothing for either team.

Australia, with a draw, waltzes into the round of 32 with a match against the second place finisher of Group G – likely Iran or Egypt. Paraguay, with a draw, likely clinches one of the best third place finishes with four points and just a -2 goal differential. Between those facts and the futility of each up front so far, this reads like a 0-0 draw.

Best Bets for Paraguay/Australia: Draw (+125) and Under 0.5 Goals (+390)
