MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – June 24
Seattle Mariners vs. Pittsburgh Pirates
First Pitch – 6:40 pm EST
PNC Park – Pittsburgh, PA
Broadcast – MLB TV
Seattle is going to be first to the plate in this one, and that’s good news for NRFI bettors. Not only do they rank 23rd in the majors in terms of run scoring, but they’ve only managed to score 12 runs over the last five games. That comes out to 2.40 runs per game in that span. A date with Braxton Ashcraft likely won’t help matters here. He enters with a 3.18 ERA on the year and has struck out 97 batters in just 90.2 innings pitched. Given the run the Mariners are on, he should be able to pump those numbers up a bit further.
The bottom half of the inning has Bryan Woo on the bump. He has had an up and down season, which is part of the reason his ERA is pushing up against the 4.00 mark. However, he looked sensational last time out. He went 7.0 scoreless against the Orioles and struck out nine in the process. Pittsburgh has been a dangerous offense this year, but has scored three or less runs in three of their last four games.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for June 24: No (-140)
Milwaukee Brewers vs. Cincinnati Reds
First Pitch – 7:10 pm EST
Great American Ballpark – Cincinnati, OH
Broadcast – MLB TV
Milwaukee is another squad who has struggled a bit at the plate recently. Despite being a top five team in the league in run scoring, they have seen some power outages in the last week. In the last six games, they have scored three or less runs in five of them. That’s not a good trend with Rhett Lowder toeing the rubber. Although his season numbers aren’t stellar, he’s posted a 3.21 ERA over his last three starts with more than a strikeout per inning. He should be able to parlay that to a quick three outs on Wednesday.
The Reds bats have had a tough start to this series. Two games in, they have managed just a single run (which came in extra innings courtesy of the zombie runner). They also have only been able to give us four total hits. We’re banking on Shane Drohan being able to keep them quiet even further. He looked good last start against the Guardians – going 5.0 innings and only allowing one run.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for June 24: No (-110)
