Some bad luck caused us to miss on an NRFI in Seattle on Thursday. Three runs were scored in the first inning and not another one was scored throughout the game. Now, we have some NRFI bets for June 19.
All of the teams are back in action on Friday and we’re digging through all the action to find the gems. Come check out what we have cooked up for this slate of games.

MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – June 19
Cincinnati Reds vs. New York Yankees
First Pitch – 7:05 pm EST
Yankee Stadium – Bronx, NY
Broadcast – MLB TV
Opening this NRFI play is going to be the current front-runner to win the AL Cy Young. Cam Schlittler is nearly at even money to take home the award at this stage of the season and for good reason. He has a 1.82 ERA on the season and has fanned 96 batters in just 89.0 innings. He’s given up more than one earned run in just one of his last four starts. Cincinnati ranks 18th in the majors in run scoring and put up just one run against the lowly Mets on Wednesday. Schlittler shouldn’t have any issues with this top of the order.
It might be scary to get in on a NRFI with the Yankees, but there are plenty of reasons to like it here. Firstly, their bats looked real quiet against an opener on Thursday, who was then followed by Sean Burke – currently rocking an ERA over 4.00. Secondly, we’ve got Rhett Lowder on the bump, who has really settled into this season after a rocky start. In his last two outings (8.2 innings), he’s allowed just one earned run and stuck out ten batters. With a high strike out New York squad, I like his ability to get out of the first unscathed here.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for June 19: No (TBD)
Boston Red Sox vs. Seattle Mariners
First Pitch – 10:10 pm EST
T-Mobile Park – Seattle, WA
Broadcast – MLB TV
The Red Sox continue to be one of the best teams to play on the NRFI market. Their bats are downright pathetic and have been all season. They rank 29th in run scoring – just ahead of the Padres – and have scored four runs in their last three games combined. Not only that, but their 0.30 first inning runs per game puts them as the worst team in the league. Facing Bryce Miller isn’t going to help matters. He has a 1.54 ERA and has struck out more hitters than he has innings pitched.
Another reason I like the Red Sox on the NRFI is that they have a fairly good pitching staff. Despite an ugly record, the Red Sox have arms all over the place. One of the best has been Ranger Suarez. He comes in with a 3.21 ERA with 70 Ks in 70.0 innings. In his last two starts, he’s allowed three runs in 11.1 innings (a 2.39 ERA in that span), and he fanned 13. That should put him in a good place to get us out of the first against Seattle – who ranks 19th in the majors in runs scored.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for June 19: No (TBD)
