MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – May 6
Milwaukee Brewers vs. St. Louis Cardinals
First Pitch – 1:15 pm EST
Busch Stadium – St. Louis, MO
Broadcast – MLB TV
Kicking off our NRFI plays for Wednesday is the Brew Crew. They’ve been a solid hitting team this year – playing above average in most offensive categories. However, we’re going to put our trust in Matthew Liberatore anyways. His 4.50 ERA isn’t scaring people away, but also might not be an inticement to get in on the NRFI. However, he has been pretty solid as of late. He held the high-powered Dodgers offense scoreless through the first and to just two runs over 5.2 innings. If he can keep them quiet, I like his chances of keeping Milwaukee at bay too.
Closing out the NRFI for us will be Jacob Misiorowski. The Brewers fireballer has been fantastic in the 2026 campaign. He takes a 2.84 ERA into Wednesday’s contest and is fresh off a start where he threw 5.1 innings of no-hit baseball. Additionally, he’s leading the majors in strikeouts with 59 in 38.0 innings. I’d take Misiorowski to get out of the first unscathed against just about anyone, but the Cardinals are also a middling offense that he should be able to dominate.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for May 6: No (TBD)
Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Arizona Diamondbacks
First Pitch – 9:40 pm EST
Chase Field – Phoenix, AZ
Broadcast – MLB TV
Pittsburgh came out this year like a ball of fire. However high ranked their offense is, they are still prone to outages. In their last eight games, they have four with less than four runs scored and an average of 1.75 in those games. In the other four games, they averaged 9.50 runs per game. That hit or miss style looks to be trending towards miss with Michael Soroka on the bump. He’s allowed two or less runs in four of his six starts this year. I think he should be able to mow down some Pirates and get out of the first.
The bottom of the first should be even less of a sweat for us. The Diamondbacks rank 25th in first inning runs per game on the year. They are scoring just 0.33 in the first inning per game. It’s hard to image that gets easier with Paul Skenes tossing. Skenes has held teams to one run or fewer in five of his last six starts. Also, while his strikeout numbers are down a bit, he’s still very much the strikeout pitcher he’s always been. Look for him to pick up a few more here and finish this first frame off for us.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for May 6: No (TBD)
