I’d like to personally congratulate Rory McIlroy on winning another green jacket… and also apologize to Larry Shea, who basically lived through a sports version of The Notebook but with less kissing and more financial devastation.
Larry had $216,000 worth of Cam Young dreams floating around Augusta. For a brief, magical moment on Saturday, it looked like destiny.
Then Sunday showed up like an ex who “just wants to talk.”
RBC Heritage: The Vibe Shift
The Masters is tuxedo energy. RBC Heritage is “guy drinking a beer in a lawn chair judging your swing.”
And honestly? I love that for us.
We go from Augusta perfection to Harbour Town, where it’s all about:
Hitting fairways
Being on the correct side of the fairway
And not emotionally spiraling mid-round (looking at you, me, Larry, and half the betting public)
Larry’s Card (aka “Trust Me Bro Analytics”)
Larry’s approach is part data, part vibes, part “I’ve watched too much golf and now I know things.”
Highlights:
Collin Morikawa — if he tees it up, he’s live
Brian Harman — a man Larry hates watching but respects deeply
J. T. Poston — spiritually destined to win this event at some point
Random emotional hedge on Harris English because we all enjoy suffering
My Card (aka “Tipsy Smalls Makes Decisions”)
Did I place bets immediately after The Masters?
Yes.
Should I have?
Absolutely not.
We’re working with:
Jordan Spieth (because I will never stop believing)
Xander Schauffele top 10 (he’s emotionally unavailable but consistent)
Daniel Berger top 20 (this will either age beautifully or ruin my week)
Jason Day at a number I legally cannot defend
Jake Knapp because he’s just… that guy right now
Also, quick note: I am temporarily fading Viktor Hovland until further notice because he has a girlfriend and I don’t trust his priorities.
Golf Betting Is Just Feelings
At a certain point, all the stats go out the window and you’re left asking:
“Do I believe in this man?”
“Would I trust him with my car?”
“Why did I bet Jason Day again?”
Larry admits he’s a “vibes bettor,” which honestly feels like the most honest thing anyone has ever said in sports gambling.
And Then… We Talked Drinks
Because obviously.
We went from outright bets to:
Bringing back the White Russian (Larry is on a mission)
The rise of Car Wash seltzers
The quiet fall of High Noon supremacy
And me discovering a dive bar I will not be sharing with you degenerates
Somewhere along the way, this turned into a lifestyle podcast and I’m not mad about it.
Final Thought
If The Masters is about legacy, RBC Heritage is about survival.
Pick your guys. Trust your gut. Accept your fate.
And if it all goes wrong?
There’s always next week… and probably a drink waiting for you.
