As predicted, Kevin Gausman and Jacob Misiorowski had themselves a little pitchers’ duel on Tuesday and cashed us an NRFI bet. Now we have some NRFI bets for April 15.
It’s a getaway day for a lot of teams, which means we have some early action as well. We have NRFI and YRFI props for April 15. Come check out what we have cooked up for this slate of games.

MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – April 15
Tampa Bay Rays vs. Chicago White Sox
First Pitch – 7:40 pm EST
Rate Field – Chicago, IL
Broadcast – MLB TV
One of the first spots I like for Wednesday is out on the south side. The Rays will come to the plate first on Wednesday, and while they’ve been a good hitting team, I like their chances to start slow in this one. Sean Burke will be doing the honors for the White Sox and he has been sharp his last two times out. In those outings, he’s logged 11.0 innings with just three earned runs allowed. He’s also tallied 10 strikeouts in that span, which should help him if he gets into any jams early here.
The bottom of the first should be less of a sweat with as bad as the White Sox have been at the plate. They are averaging just 3.18 runs per game on the year, which is just good enough for 29th in the league. Jesse Scholtens will be the one looking to continue that trend. He got bumped into the rotation for the Rays for this one, but is coming off an extended relief appearance last time out. He threw 4.2 innings against the Cubs last Wednesday and didn’t allow a single run. Plus, he also had four strikeouts to go along with four hits allowed. That kind of stuff should be plenty to keep the other Chicago team quiet as well.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for April 15: No (-135)
Texas Rangers vs. Athletics
First Pitch – 9:40 pm EST
Sutter Health Park – Sacramento, CA
Broadcast – MLB TV
While I have been burned a couple times by this series, I am going back to the well on this one.
The first reason is that the Rangers have not been all that good at the plate this year. Despite scoring in the first in back-to-back games, they are still just 19th in first inning scoring in the majors. They are worse across the whole game, where their 4.00 runs per game ranks 21st. Those numbers tell me we’re looking at a regression opportunity. JT Ginn just may be the person to bring that as well. His 4.0 scoreless innings against the Mets last outing lowered his ERA to 3.27 and brought me some confidence for this one.
As for the other side of things, we get a Kumar Rocker start – which can be a bit shakey. He has looks questionable at best this year, but is coming off of throwing a clean first inning against a high-powered Dodgers team. Meanwhile, the Athletics can’t buy a first inning run. They currently are the only team in the majors who has not yet scored a first inning run.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for April 15: No (+100)
