MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – April 14

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Milwaukee Brewers

First Pitch – 7:40 pm EST
American Family Field – Milwaukee, WI
Broadcast – MLB TV

In the top of the first, the struggling Blue Jays lineup will come to the dish. They’ve been hurting for first inning runs all season – with just 0.33 per game (good enough for 24th in the league). However, they are even lower ranked when it comes to scoring in general. They rank 25th in that category. Things likely won’t be easier for them on Tuesday with Jacob Misiorowski on the hill. The young fireballer has 28 strikeouts in just 16.1 innings this year and carries a 3.31 ERA. He should be able to get us three quick ones.

The bottom of the inning is a bit more of a sweat due to how good the Brewers have been hitting. They rank near the top of the league in all the important categories. However, they have slowed down a bit as of late, putting up just 10 runs in their last three games. Those issues should get compounded with Kevin Gausman on the hill. He is rocking a 2.08 ERA on the year and has fanne 26 over 17.1 innings. Even with a tough squad in front of him, he should roll through the first inning.

NRFI/YRFI Bet for April 14: No (-160)

Texas Rangers vs. Athletics

First Pitch – 9:40 pm EST
Sutter Health Park – Sacramento, CA
Broadcast – MLB TV

The Rangers were too powerful for this NRFI to hit on Monday, but we’re going to ride with it again on Tuesday. A big part of that confidence comes from Jeffery Springs. He’s been stellar this year over three starts. He has just a 1.47 ERA and hasn’t allowed a home run all year. Additionally, he’s kept his last nine innings on the bump scoreless. Between that and Texas ranking in the bottom third of first inning runs, we should get an easy start to this one.

To close it out, we’ll look to MacKenzie Gore. He has 25 strikeouts on the year in 16.1 innings with a 2.76 ERA. Those numbers are already good enough to trust, but they are definitely good enough with the Athletics at the plate. At this stage, I would take a pitching machine to get an NRFI against the Athletics. They remain the only team in the league yet to score a first inning run. Gore should keep that going.

NRFI/YRFI Bet for April 14: No (-140)
