MMA Main Card Pick of the Week: UFC Winnipeg
UFC Fight Night: Burns vs Malott (aka UFC Winnipeg)
Main Card Start Time: 8:00 PM EST
At least on paper, Saturday’s welterweight main event is a squash match, pitting native son Mike Malott against former title challenger Gilbert Burns of Brazil. While there is an age gap between the two fighters (Malott is five years younger), the wear and tear is even more pronounced in Burns’s favor.
With four straight losses and being knocked out in two of them, Burns is past his expiry date as a fighter. Malott is not just fresher, but he should also be sharper, more powerful, and faster on the feet, as well as possessing a better chin.
