MMA Regional Pick of the Week: KSW 116
KSW Light Heavyweight Fight: Bartosz Leśko vs Bartosz Szewczyk
Card Start Time: Saturday (3/14), 1:00pm EST (Internet PPV)
Many time, particularly on the regional scene, the build of fighters can heavily weigh on the lines the bookmaker sets. In this case, we have a fighter with tremendous length and, judging by the line, the books seem to have put stock into that.
Bartosz Leśko stands 6’2″ but has a 6’7″ reach. In the right hands, that length can be a game changer. However, if you watch Leśko’s recent fights, he does anything but that. He’s often backing up and looking for counters, which allows his opponents to set the range. That could be a problem for him against an opponent the caliber of Szewczyk.
The Dana White’s Contender Series veteran, Szewczyk, has solid power with six of his nine wins coming by knockout. He’s also technically sound on the feet. Offensively, he hung with Diyar Nurgozhay well on the show, although defensively he had a major lapse. Still that ability to trade in the pocket should serve him well as he backs up Leśko in this one.
