Columbus Blue Jackets vs New York Rangers
Start Time: 7:00 PM EST
Some Metropolitan Division action is going down tomorrow night in MSG, as the last-place New York Rangers host the fifth-place Columbus Blue Jackets. If it weren’t for having to play half of their games on their home ice in front of their own fans, the Rangers would be having a decent season.
That’s because New York is an abysmal 7-15-5 at Madison Square Garden this season, the second-worst home mark in the league (they’re 16-14-2 on the road). Outside of the home ice jitters, the Rangers are just plain bad at both ends of the rink, with an anemic offense and a porous defense.
So it’s a fairly safe play to fade the Rangers at home. And while the Blue Jackets are mediocre at best, that is still better than the Rangers. And, like the Rangers, they are actually above average on the road.
Columbus on the very playable moneyline is my best bet to kick off the week.
