The NFL combine is underway! The future stars of the National Football League are doing their best to impress the scouts and coaches to improve their draft stock before April’s NFL Draft. Our friends at Underdog Fantasy have set projections for things like the 40-yard dash time and vertical jump in inches. Let’s dive into the NFL Combine picks on Underdog Fantasy.
The NFL Combine is once again taking place at Lucas Oil Stadium, the Home of the Indianapolis Colts, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Indianapolis has been the host of the combine since its inception in 1977. Saturday is the big day we are all waiting for, as it showcases the quarterback, running back, and wide receiver positions.
The premise is simple for Underdog is simple each player you select faster or slower. You pick 2-8 players, and with each player you add your multiplier grows. You can also mix your entry with NASCAR, F1, NBA, NHL, and a ton of other sports to build the best lineup. Then you choose if you want to let it all ride with a standard lineup, or go with the flex option, which allows you to miss some picks. The best part, you aren’t playing in a big pool against a bunch of others with computer algorithms. It’s you vs you, if your picks are right, you get paid! NFL Combine Picks Underdog Fantasy
Brenen Thompson Faster Than 4.29 40-Time
Thompson is a speedster from Mississippi State. The wide receiver was a track star in high school, winning the 3A 200-meter title in 21.27-seconds. It’s been reported that during his high school years, he ran a 4.3 40-time. He originally planned on playing in the Senior Bowl, but ended up skipping to prep for the combine. If someone is going to threaten to break Xavier Worthy’s 4.21 40-yard dash record, Thompson might just be the most likely candidate to do it. An already trained sprinter who has been focused on training for this. Even if he doesn’t break the record, he should get close.
Emmet Johnson Faster Than 4.48 40-Time
There might not be a player more excited for than Nebraska running back Emmet Johnson. Johnson was highly productive behind a horrible Nebraska offensive line. His first chance to showcase what he could be is right here at the NFL Combine. Johnson decided to forgo Nebraska’s bowl game as he spent his time training for the Combine. For a player like this, his 40-yard dash time could literally make or break how his NFL Draft experience goes. The lock screen on his phone is set to 4.35, his goal time for the 40. Emmet will show up on Saturday, just like he did all fall.
Emmett Johnson is ready to prove himself again but this time in the NFL.
Since starting his NFL Draft training, @Emmett21Johnson has set his lock screen to the time he wants to achieve in the 40-yard dash at the combine.

Jalon Daniels Slower Than 4.51 40-Time
The Kansas quarterback is definitely on my sleeper list if you are looking for a dynasty quarterback stash in your fantasy football leagues. However, I think this time expectation might be just a little too high. I don’t doubt Daniels has been training as he should, but quarterbacks also should be focusing on fine-tuning those throwing skills. Daniels was previously recorded at 4.58 seconds. A .07-second increase would be impressive, but I’m not banking on it.
Carson Beck Slower Than 4.8 40-Time
Not by design, but another fade of a quarterback doing the 40-yard dash. Beck is known for his quick release and throwing ability, not so much his rushing abilities. Beck could be anywhere from a second-round pick to the fourth or later, depending on how things go. I don’t believe his 40-time will change that much, and not being a speedy guy, it seems time would be better spent elsewhere. Beck claims he ran a 4.7 the last time he did it, but we all know how that goes. There are reports of a 4.84, and I’ll expect him to be closer to that.
Chris Hilton Jr Faster Than 4.31 40-Time
Let’s end on a positive note with an absolute burner. Chris Hilton Jr is a speedster, and he’s going to show that on Saturday. The Shrine Bowl executive director, Eric Galko, noted on Hilton, “If you put the over-under at 4.3 (seconds) for his 40 time, I am taking the under. That’s how fast he is, and it shows on film.” Galko was impressed with Hilton’s speed, and so am I. Hilton set the “top speed” record for LSU, clocking at a speed of 23.7 mph on a play. Hilton Jr could be another threat to that coveted 40 record on Saturday.
My pick for fastest 40 at NFL Combine:
Chris Hilton, #LSU WR
Been a fan of his for 2+ years now, though he wasn’t able to show his elite talent at LSU. Wildly impressed this draft process, including at @ShrineBowl.
ELITE burst/top end speed. Mid to low 4.2s certainly in play pic.twitter.com/Dvjj37UbMU
