Champions League: Knockout Phase Leg 2 – Picks, Predictions, and Best Bets
Bodo Glimt draws with Inter Milan (+600)
Bodo Glimt has quickly become the darlings of this year’s Champions League. After looking like they were dead in the water early on, they closed their League Phase with a draw with Dortmund, and then wins over Manchester City and Atletico Madrid. Then, they ripped through Inter Milan in the first leg with a 3-1 win. Kasper Hogh has been finishing at a solid clip for the Norwegian side, and I think it’s going to be hard for Milan to keep pace. They’ve scored just five goals in their last five Champions League fixtures. Add in that Bodo Glimt has a two-goal cushion and can just pack the box, I expect they should get out of Italy with a draw.
Borussia Dortmund (+225) over Atalanta
There’s some more value to find on the road in Italy in the second leg. In Germany, it only took three minutes for Serhou Guirassy to put Dortmund on the board and Atalanta never really threatened. Down two goals ahead of the opening whistle, Atalanta will have to put their foot on the gas. Against a solid counter attacking team like Dortmund, that is likely going to cost them a couple of goals here.
Real Madrid (-220) over Benfica
After picking up a 1-0 result on the road, I was already going to heavily favor Real Madrid in the second leg. However, given all that went down between Vinicius Jr. and Gianluca Prestianni, I like Madrid even more. Not only will the Argentinian forward be suspended for the contest, but Madrid has all the bulletin board material they need. A raucous crowd at home should make it even easier to get up for this one.
Galatasaray (+450) over Juventus
For the third time on this matchday, I’m fading the Italians at home. While I know that it would be a historic day for all of them to fail to move on, they looked entirely outmatched the first time out. After trailing by one at the half, Galatasaray put up four in the second half – which included an equalizer and winner from Noa Lang. I expect Juventus to look a bit better at home, but I’m not sure there will be a three-goal difference with the location change.
