The college hoops slate is a real hodgepodge of basketball. There are a bunch of low-majors, a sizable number of mid-major programs, and a few power schools mixed in. A lot of the matchups are either normal conference fare or kind of odd. Colgate at Holy Cross? Typical Wednesday matchup. Stanford at Boston College? That still looks like someone made a mistake.

Furman at Mercer
Start Time: 7:00 PM EST
Furman enters this game with a 16-9 overall record and a 5-3 road mark. The Paladins are 10-12 against the spread overall and 5-3 ATS on the road.
Mercer comes into this matchup with a 15-10 overall record and an 11-0 mark at home. The Bears are 16-6 ATS overall and 7-1 ATS at home.
Furman has won eight of the last 10 matchups head-to-head against Mercer, but only covered six out of 10. The Bears’ only two wins in the last 10 matchups in this series came in a sweep in 2024.
Furman is off back-to-back losses, but they did manage to cover at ETSU. Mercer is also off back-to-back losses, but both were on the road. The Bears have won 11 straight home games.
Mercer is the better offensive team and the superior shooting team. Furman can make shots on the inside, but that’s where Mercer is stronger at defending. Mercer struggles to defend the perimeter, but Furman isn’t a great, or even good, three-point shooting team this year. The Bears are much better at generating steals and turnovers than Furman is, and the Bears don’t hand the ball back as often.
Mercer has been a wagon at home this year, and they’re off back-to-back road losses. The situation points to the Bears getting up for this matchup. Also, the Bears are a better offense on their own floor. Look for Furman to struggle away from home, and the Bears to cruise to a win and cover. Lock up the Bears!
Best Bet: Mercer -2.5
Austin Peay at Queens
Start Time: 7:00 PM EST
Austin Peay comes into this matchup with a 17-6 overall record and a 6-6 mark on the road. The Governors are 13-8 overall ATS and 7-5 ATS on the road.
Queens enters this game with a 14-11 overall record and a 10-1 mark at home. The Royals are 11-13 overall ATS and 7-3 ATS at home.
Queens has won three out of five games played in this series, but Austin Peay went into Charlotte and won outright as a seven-point underdog.
Austin Peay has won nine of their last 10 games played. That stretch includes four road wins out of five games played away from Clarksville. Queens is 7-3 in their last 10 games played, but they have a home loss against Central Arkansas included in that stretch.
Queens is the better scoring offense, but the Royals don’t really try on the defensive end. Austin Peay can get stops on defense and is really good at defending the perimeter. The Governors are in the top-100 in the nation in three-point shooting percentage, and the Royals are in the bottom-30 in terms of three-point shooting percentage allowed. Austin Peay should find open looks from range against Queens. The Governors are also top-50 in the nation at generating turnovers, and a top-10 team in steals per game.
Austin Peay is the tougher side, and they’re catching points in this one. Queens can play loose with the ball, and Austin Peay is a much better defensive team. Look for the Guvs to find open looks from deep, take advantage of opportunities, and clip Queens at home. Lock up Austin Peay plus the points, and potentially steal this one on the road.
Best Bet: Austin Peay +2.5
Providence at Seton Hall
7:30 PM EST
Providence enters this game with an 11-13 overall record and a 1-6 mark on the road. The Friars are 14-10 overall ATS and 4-3 ATS on the road.
Seton Hall comes into this matchup with a 16-8 overall record and a 10-3 mark at home. The Pirates are 14-10 overall ATS and 5-8 ATS at home.
Seton Hall won by five points as a 1.5-point underdog on the road against Providence in December. The Pirates have covered in six of the last 10 games head-to-head in this series.
Seton Hall returns home after back-to-back road losses. Providence has played four games on the road in its last 10 games. The Friars have lost all four games. However, they did manage to cover twice over that stretch.
Seton Hall is 10th in the nation in scoring defense, while Providence is 10th in the nation in points per game on offense. The Pirates are 253rd in the nation in points per game, but Providence is 357th in points allowed per game. Providence barely tries on the defensive end, while Seton Hall goes all out.
Seton Hall is tough to score on in the paint, and they’re fifth in the nation in steals per game. The Pirates are also better at taking care of the ball on offense than Providence.
Seton Hall needs a get-right game after a tough road trip, and they get a soft Providence team on the road. Providence struggled to score against Seton Hall in Providence. They should continue to struggle on the road. Seton Hall does enough on offense to win and cover, and chokes out Providence on the defensive end. Lock up the Pirates to cover the 4.5-point spread.
Best Bet: Seton Hall -4.5
