Fury FC Featherweight Fight: Ricky Romo vs Nick Talavera
Card Start Time: Friday (1/30), 2:00pm EST (UFC Fight Pass)
One of the best spots on the regional scene comes to us early on Friday. The Fury FC card gets kicking before the weekend even really starts and this featherweight tilt should get it all started right.
The favorite, Nick Talavera, has sported some of the sharper jiu jitsu on this part of the regional circuit. In addition, he does an excellent job at keeping his boxing within itself. While he may not be the most flashy on the feet, he has sound defensive fundementals and doesn’t overextend himself in terms of his attack. This allows him to stay safe as he sets up the better part of his game.
On the other side, Romo struggles with some of those facets. For one, his grappling defense is likely to be a liability in this fight. Additionally, he is a bit more wild and reckless when to comes to exchanges. Although that has been as asset for him at times, the smart defense of Talavera should make Romo’s efforts futile. On top of that, is Romo should get off-balanced, that will make it easier for Talavera to take this to the mat and cash our bet.
