Perfect 3-0 Cards: 12-66

George Mason at Rhode Island

Start Time: 2:00 PM EST

George Mason comes into this game with an 18-1 overall record and a 3-1 mark on the road. The Patriots are 10-8 overall against the spread and 1-3 ATS on the road.

Rhode Island enters this matchup with an 11-8 overall record and a 6-4 mark at home. The Rams are 8-11 ATS overall and 3-7 ATS at home.

These two teams played at George Mason already this year. The Patriots won by 11 and covered a 6.5-point spread at home. They’ve also won seven of the last 10 games played between these two teams. The Rams have dropped three straight home games with losses to Loyola-Chicago, LaSalle, and VCU. George Mason has won nine straight games, including wins at Loyola-Chicago, Fordham, and LaSalle.

Both teams are capable of clamping on defense, but George Mason is much more efficient on the offensive end. GMU is 72nd in the nation in effective field goal percentage and 48th in offensive efficiency. The Patiots are also the better team at shooting from the line and from beyond the arc. GMU is also much better at protecting the ball. They rarely turn it over and get the most out of their possessions.

Rhode Island only managed 50 points in its first matchup against George Mason this year. They couldn’t solve the GMU defense on the road, and it’s unlikely to get better with the Patriots heading to Rhode Island this time. George Mason has an older, disciplined team that won’t be shaken by playing on an opponent’s floor. The line is a little short, but it’s worth diving into it with the better team. Lock up George Mason to sweep the season series against the Rams, and cover the 2.5 points.

Best Bet: George Mason -1.5

LSU at Arkansas

Start Time: 5:00 PM EST

LSU enters this matchup with a 13-6 overall record and a 1-3 mark on the road. The Tigers are 11-8 ATS overall and 3-1 ATS on the road.

Arkansas comes into this matchup with a 14-5 overall record and a 10-0 mark in Fayetteville. The Razorbacks are 13-6 ATS overall and 9-2 ATS at home.

Arkansas and LSU split last year’s series, but Arkansas won at home and covered a 9.5-point spread last season. LSU has lost five of its last six games. The Tigers have dropped conference road games at Florida and at Vanderbilt over that stretch. Arkansas has won three of its last five. Both losses were on the road, while they won and covered at home against Vanderbilt and South Carolina.

Arkansas at home has been a system play this year. LSU has struggled in SEC play this year, and they’ve looked especially tough on the road. The Bud Walton Arena has been one of the toughest buildings to play in this year. By the metrics, the Tigers are improved over last year, but so is Arkansas. This version of the Razorbacks might be the most complete team in the SEC this season. Arkansas can score on just about anyone, and they have SEC-level athletes on defense. They’ll also have over 19,000 fans in attendance, making life miserable for the Tigers.

Arkansas is in the top 10 in points per game, and its offense has been remarkably efficient this year. The Razorbacks are also 62nd in the nation in steals per game, and they’re a solid rebounding team.

LSU has yet to win a road game in conference play this year. Fayetteville won’t be the Tigers’ first road win in the SEC this year.

LSU might keep this close for a half, but they’ll have a drought, fall behind, and Arkansas will cruise to a win. Lock up Arkansas to win and cover the 9.5-point spread in this one.

Best Bet: Arkansas -9.5

CSUN at Hawaii

Start Time: 11:59 PM EST

Cal State-Northridge enters this game with an 11-9 overall record and a 3-6 mark on the road. The Matadors are 8-10 ATS overall and 4-5 ATS on the road.

Hawaii comes into this matchup with a 14-4 overall record and a 12-1 mark on the island. The Rainbow Warriors are 7-9 ATS overall and 4-7 ATS on the island.

Cal State-Northridge swept this series last year, but Hawaii managed to cover in Northridge. The Matadors have dropped two of their three in conference road games. CSUN has lost at UC-Davis and CSUF, but managed to win at UC-San Diego. Hawaii has won three of its last four games, including wins at home against UC-Irvine and CSUB.

Both teams are capable on the offensive end, but Hawaii has been nasty on defense this year, especially on the island. The Rainbow Warriors are 13th in the nation in points allowed and fifth in opponent effective field goal percentage. Hawaii has been really good at defending both the interior and the perimeter. The Rainbow Warriors are also the better free-throw shooting team and the better rebounding team.

Look for Hawaii to do enough on offense to stay ahead of the Matadors and clamp on defense. CSUN plays at pace, but isn’t terribly efficient. The Rainbow Warriors are experienced and disciplined on defense. The Matadors will have more than their fair share of empty possessions, and Hawaii will score at home. Lock up the Rainbow Warriors to cruise to a cover at home in Honolulu.

Best Bet: Hawaii -9.5
