Well, we did it. We made it through the closest thing MMA has to an offseason, and the big dogs, the UFC, are back this week, baby, with UFC 324. But don’t call it a pay-per-view – at least not in the United States. It’s a “numbered event”. For my MMA Main Card Pick of the Week: UFC 324, we’re heading to the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. MMA Main Card Pick of the Week: UFC 324
UFC 324: Gaethje vs Pimblett
Main Card Start Time: 9:00 PM EST (Paramount+)
The Paramount+ era of the UFC kicks off with a fight card with a fake title fight at the top, and the co-main event dropping off the card. Not an auspicious start. But at least I’ve got your winner for the main event.
It’ll be Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett who should be crowned the interim UFC Lightweight Champion at the end of Saturday night’s action. While Pimblett isn’t without his flaws, he’s much younger and more active than his opponent, Justin Gaethje. Gaethje doesn’t really seem to possess that one-hitter quitter power (at least not often), so Pimblett should be able to survive on the feet until he gets his superior wrestling and grappling going.
