Daily NBA Player Props – January 18th
Jalen Smith – Over 7.5 Rebounds (-120)
On Friday, we rode Jalen Smith’s rebounds, which were set at just 6.5. Not only did he hit that number, but he doubled it – pulling down a robust 13 boards. While the number has risen to 7.5, that’s still not enough. He’s had at least nine in four straight games and is averaging 10.3 in that span. Brooklyn is one of the worst teams in rebounding percentage, ranking 25th in the category. They also shoot 44.6% from the field (good for 29th in the league). Those should give Smith all the opportunities he needs to pull down a bunch more.
Jamal Murray – Over 29.5 Points (+120)
Jamal Murray has been huge for the Nuggets in overcoming the loss of Nikola Jokic. Since Jokic has been out, he’s put up 30.6 points per game. That includes the first game where he was still trying to find his leadership role a bit too. Since the calendar turned to January, he has put up 32.2 points per game and beat this projection in four of six games – which includes three in a row. They’ll face the Hornets on Sunday, who have allowed 123.3 points per game over their last three.
Anthony Black – Over 4.5 Assists (-110)
Anthony Black is really having a break out lately for the Magic. He’s put up 20-plus points in three straight games. However, it’s his ability to dish out the rock that has been huge for the Magic. With Jalen Suggs out hurt, Black has been picking up the slack there. He’s covered this line in three of his last four games. That includes back-to-back games with seven dimes. While I’m not sure how the trip over to London will affect him, it shouldn’t be disproportionate to the rest of the players.
