Houston Texans vs Pittsburgh Steelers
Start Time: 8:15 PM EST
Picking a Pennsylvania-based team to lose at home in the NFL’s Wild Card Round worked well for me on Sunday – maybe I’ll go for the sequel tomorrow as the AFC North champion Pittsburgh Steelers host the AFC South’s Houston Texans.
Winning the AFC North is akin to being named the nicest guy in prison, as, outside of the Carolina Panthers, the Steelers are the worst team to make the playoffs, according to advanced statistics. The Texans, meanwhile, came out ranked as the second-best team in the AFC (behind the Jacksonville Jaguars – that didn’t bear fruit in the playoffs, ouch), have an above-average offense, and most importantly, the second stingiest defense in the league this season.
Plus, the Texans went 5-3 away from Houston this season, so playing on the road does not faze them.
After crunching the numbers, my line is Houston -5.5, so the Texans on the spread is my best bet for Monday.
