We have no Monday Night Football this week as teams prepare for the start of the playoffs this coming weekend. That means we hit the ice tomorrow for our winning play. Best Bet For Monday (January 5th): NHL Predictions
Anaheim Ducks vs Washington Capitals
Start Time: 7:00 PM EST
While they aren’t enjoying the runaway regular season success they did last season, when they finished with 111 points, the Washington Capitals are still having a solid year thus far. With 48 points in 42 games, they are right where they were predicted to be heading into this season (over/under 96.5 points).
The Capitals’ visitors tomorrow night, the Anaheim Ducks, are having a similar season as the Caps, except they are exceeding expectations. The Ducks are on pace for their best season since 2017/18.
Despite this, Washington is still my pick tomorrow night. Despite (that word again) very similar win-loss records, the advanced stats like the Capitals over the Ducks by about a half a goal per game. When you add in the home ice advantage, which is considerable for the 12-7-3 at home Caps this season, Washington comes out as my best bet for Monday.
