Seton Hall at NC State

Start Time:2:30 PM EST

This game will be played in Lahaina, HI, as part of the Southwest Maui Invitational.

Seton Hall has only allowed opponents to average 54.0 points per game through five games this year. They managed to choke out the likes of St. Peter’s, Wagner, Fairfield, Monmouth, and New Haven. Wagner is the clubhouse leader with 61 points scored against Seton Hall in South Orange, NJ.

Why are we taking the over on the NC State team total? Well, look at that list of teams the Pirates have faced this year. They’ve only played East Coast teams from low- or mid-major conferences. This is their first step up in competition and their first game played outside of New Jersey.

NC State has averaged 100.8 points per game in four games this year. The Wolfpack managed to drop 85 points on defensive-minded VCU. Keep in mind that the game was played in Raleigh, but VCU is a lot more athletic and has more muscle than Seton Hall. Will Wade’s teams have proven they can get the ball through the hoop against the best defensive teams. Accordingly, Seton Hall will try to slow down the pace and grind on the Wolfpack, but NC State has too much firepower.

Look for the Wolfpack to set the pace and score more than 77.5 points in Maui against Seton Hall. The step up in competition and athleticism, and the first travel spot, have this game set up for NC State to potentially smash the Pirates in this matchup.

Best Bet: NC State Team Total Over 77.5

Baylor at Creighton

Start Time: 3:30 PM EST

This game will be played in Las Vegas as a part of the Players’ Era MTE.

Creighton won’t have forward Jackson McAndrew. McAndrew suffered a foot injury last week and will not return for the 2025-26 season. Baylor is likely without big man Juslin Bodo Bodo. Bodo Bodo has yet to see the court this season after suffering an arm injury late in the preseason. Details on the specific nature of his injury have been hard to come by.

Creighton will turn to forward Jasen Green to start in McAndrew’s place. Green is a capable big body, but he lacks the court vision and all-around offensive game that McAndrew brought to the table. This will also be Creighton’s first game played without McAndrew.

Baylor got drilled by Duke in their toughest game of the season. However, they’ve also faced Mississippi State and Washington already this year and beat both. Creighton has looked good against mid-majors and low-majors, but lost to Auburn by a dozen and got dismantled at Gonzaga. The Blue Jays may look to lean on forward Owen Freeman. However, he struggles when he’s up against superior athletes.

Also, Baylor has played all year without Bodo Bodo, so they’ve figured out their rotation minus their best big man. The Bears have better athletes and make defense a part of their identity. Baylor’s athleticism should mess with the flow of the Creighton offense, and the Blue Jays will miss McAndrew in his first game out. Let’s lock up the Bears to win and cover the number.

Best Bet: Baylor -4.5

Jacksonville State at Arkansas State

Start Time: 8:00 PM EST

This game is a true home game for Arkansas State and is not part of an MTE.

Arkansas State is off back-to-back losses at St. Mary’s and at SMU. The Red Wolves only lost by 13 against the Gaels in Moraga, CA. However, they lost big at SMU in their next game. They’ve only played one home game so far this year. They wrecked DII Christian Brothers University.

Jacksonville State comes into this matchup at 3-1, but this is their first road game of the season.

As far as the situation goes, Arkansas State is looking for a win off the road trip, and Jacksonville State is traveling away from Southern Alabama for the first time this season. In terms of metrics, Arkansas State has the superior offense and plays at pace. Jacksonville State gave up over 70 points to Coastal Carolina and South Alabama in Jacksonville, AL. Arkansas State should score 80+, and their pace of play should mess with a mediocre Jacksonville State defense. Look for Arkansas State to win and cover the short number at home.

Best Bet: Arkansas State -2.5
