UT-Martin at Prairie View A&M

Start Time: 5:00 PM EST

This game is played at the Pensacola Bay Center as part of the Pensacola Invitational.

The books continue to disrespect UT-Martin. The Skyhawks look like they’re ready to make a run in the Ohio Valley Conference. UT-Martin has picked up non-conference wins at UNLV and at Bradley. They just covered a game against Florida State that they were catching 22.5 points, and it was never sweaty.

Prairie View A&M isn’t as bad as a few teams in the SWAC, but they’re still a bottom-50 team in the country. They can’t really score, and they don’t defend. Good luck playing against a team that comes into games with a clear identity and a plan.

Prairie View A&M likes to play at pace, but they really can’t shoot. UT-Martin also plays an up-tempo style, and they make their shots. The Skyhawks have also looked solid on the defensive end against mid-majors. Look for UT-Martin to make shots, get stops, and win this one by 20 points. The line is a little short, but books have yet to show UT-Martin any real respect. Keep taking advantage while you still can. Lock up the Skyhawks to cover this spread.

Best Bet: UT-Martin -8.5

Coppin State at VCU

Start Time: 7:30 PM EST

Coppin State is a bottom-30 team in the nation, and they have to go into the Siegel Center. The Eagles have the second-worst offense in the nation. Coppin State is rated just ahead of Mississippi Valley State.

In three road games, the Eagles have gone higher than 59.5 points in one. They somehow put up 70 points against James Madison.

VCU hasn’t held anyone under 59.5 points yet this year, but they’ve also played a solid schedule this year. They opened with Wagner, and the Vacuum Company scored 74 points. They gave up 80 to Utah State in Logan, UT. The Rams held St. Peter’s to only 61. NC State scored 85 in its most recent game in Raleigh, NC.

Now, VCU is at home against a really bad low-major. The Rams have the 29th-rated defense in the nation. There’s a non-zero chance that Coppin State doesn’t break 50 points in this one.

Best Bet: Coppin State Team Total Under 59.5

Northern Iowa at UC-Irvine

Start Time: 10:30 PM EST

Northern Iowa comes into this matchup at 4-0, but only 2-2 ATS. The Panthers have home wins over CSUN, South Dakota State, Furman, and Northern Illinois. This is the Panthers’ first true road game of the year.

UC-Irvine is off to a tough loss at Utah Valley. Before the road loss, the Anteaters were 3-1 at home with a loss to Cal Baptist in their second game of the year.

Both teams have solid offenses, but different approaches. Northern Iowa grinds through good possessions, while UCI wants to get up and down the floor. Given that this game is at UC-Irvine’s gym, it’s more likely that this game is played quicker than Northern Iowa would like.

UC-Irvine needs a get right spot, and they catch a really talented Northern Iowa team on their first road game of the season. That the Anteaters are catching points indicates the books are trying to get folks on the Northern Iowa side. UC-Irvine has played two potential tournament teams already in Utah Valley and Cal Baptist. Northern Iowa has looked really good, but they haven’t been on the road, and they haven’t played teams at the same level that UCI has. Lock up the Anteaters catching 1.5 points to win this one at home.

Best Bet: UC-Irvine +1.5
