Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Detroit Lions
Start Time: 7:00 PM EST
The early game tomorrow should be a good one, pitting the top team in the NFC South, the 5-1 Tampa Bay Buccaneers, up against the second-best team in the NFC North, the Detroit Lions. And both these teams’ win-loss records are not aberrations, as the Bucs and the Lions are rated as the third and fourth-best teams in the NFC based on advanced stats.
These teams are remarkably close in terms of the advanced stats, with Tampa Bay only rated 0.1 points per game better than Detroit. The Buccaneers are the superior team on offense; the Lions are the better one on defense (although neither team is good on that side of the ball).
After taking all the numbers into account, including Detroit’s home-field advantage, the Lions come out as a tiny favorite: Detroit-3. That would make Tampa Bay on the spread my best bet for Monday.
