It’s really been boon or bust in the NHL this season, and I don’t mean in terms of my daily goal scorer parlay (they’ve all been bust so far – but you only have to hit one every once in a while to be profitable). No, I mean the schedule – we went from 14 games on Thursday, no games on Friday, 16 games on Saturday, then only one game tomorrow. Washington Capitals vs New York Rangers
Start Time: 7:00 PM EST
We get some Metropolitan Division action going down tomorrow night in Madison Square Gardens, as divisional rival the Washington Capitals come to town to face the New York Rangers. And, for our bet’s sake, let’s hope neither goaltender pitches a shutout tomorrow, because I have a Capital and a Ranger in my goal scorer parlay.
First, the visitor. That would be Aliaksei Protas of the Capitals. After never scoring more than six goals in a season previously, the center broke out for 30 goals last season for Washington. He leads the team in goals (two) and shots on goal (eight) this season.
For the home team, I’m going with a player with a similar first name – former #1 overall pick Alexis Lafreniere. While he hasn’t lived up to his high draft spot, he still averages 20 goals a season, and, like Protas, he is the current clubhouse leader in goals and shots for the Rangers.
