Detroit Tigers vs Seattle Mariners

The American League Division Series between the Detroit Tigers and the Seattle Mariners has been a back-and-forth affair, with the Tigers taking Game 1, the Mariners bouncing back to grab the next two games, and then Detroit fending off elimination in Game 4 by crushing Seattle 9-3. Now it all comes down to the decisive Game 5 in the Pacific Northwest.
The better overall team, the Mariners, is playing at home, where they went 51-30, and already had their slip-up by dropping Game 1 at home to the Tigers. All signs point to an M’s win, right? Wrong.
That’s because Tarik Skubel is on the bump tomorrow for Detroit, as he was in Game 2, when he struck out nine over seven innings, letting in two runs. The Tigers lost that game, but that is a rarity – the team is 22-11 in Skubal starts this season. Meanwhile, the Mariners are only 13-11 with tomorrow’s starter, George Kirby, taking the mound.
