After an explosive UFC 320 in Las Vegas to kick off the month, the UFC octagon continues its world tour this Saturday, landing in the Farmasi Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. While we lost half of the main event, the UFC found a viable replacement to keep popular native son Charles Olveira atop the card. For my MMA Main Card Pick of the Week: UFC Rio, I’ve got a winning play for the third fight from the top. Let’s go!

MMA Main Card Pick of the Week: UFC Rio
UFC FIGHT NIGHT: OLIVEIRA VS GAMROT (AKA UFC RIO)
Main Card Start Time: 7:00 PM EST – (ESPN+)
You never would guess it, but Vicente Luque is only a year older than his welterweight opponent on Saturday night, Joel Alvarez. Luque has accumulated far more wear and tear over the years than Alvarez, and these guys are headed in different directions.
Luque has been piling up the losses, going 1-2 over his last three and 2-4 over his past six, with his last fight ending in a submission loss. Alvarez’s star, meanwhile, is still on the rise, with three straight wins and seven victories in his past eight fights. And he’s been knocking suckers out.
I don’t think Luque can last on the feet with this long, powerful striker.
