MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – October 1st

NRFI YRFI Picks October 1 - bets October 1 - picks October 1 - Come tail along with these MLB picks today with us!

The pitchers’ duel in the Yankees/Red Sox rivalry matchup on Tuesday paid dividens for first inning bettors. There wasn’t much of any offense in that game, let alone in the first inning. Now we’ll look to find a couple more spots for our NRFI bets for October 1.

With four teams on the verge of elimination, we set forth with a pair of NRFI and YRFI props for October 1.  Come check out what we have cooked up for this slate of games.

MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – October 1

Detroit Tigers vs. Cleveland Guardians

First Pitch – 1:00 pm EST
Progressive Field – Cleveland, OH
Broadcast – ESPN

There’s not many Gaurdians games that I wouldn’t play on the NRFI. Now, facing elimination, they’ll run Tanner Bibee out there for a start on Wednesday. He’s had each of his last two starts against the Tigers and has been lights out. In 12.0 innings, he’s allowed just two earned runs and struck out 13 batters. To add to this run, the game prior to that was a complete game shutout. That should be enough to already expect a quiet top of the first, but the Tigers’ recent offense adds to it. They’ve scored just 14 runs in the last five games and Bibee isn’t going to make it easy on them.

The Guardians have not been much better at the plate recently or all season for that matter. They’ve scored just 18 runs in the last five games and currently rank 28th in the majors in runs scored this season. They are one of just five teams that weren’t able to crack 4.00 runs per game on the year. Now they’ll need to crack into Casey Mize. He posted a 3.49 ERA in the month of September and didn’t allow a first inning run in any of his last three games. That includes one game against these Guardians, which I expect him to replicate in this one.

NRFI/YRFI Bet for October 1: No (TBD)

Cincinnati Reds vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

First Pitch – 9:00 pm EST
Dodger Stadium – Los Angeles, CA
Broadcast – ESPN

In the late game, we get to see Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the bump to start. He ripped off a 2.49 ERA on the year and was somehow way better down the stretch. In his last two games, he did not allow a single earned run. In September, he managed four starts and posted a 0.67 ERA in that span. Plus, he put up 11.3 strikeouts per nine innings in that time. The Reds offense didn’t exactly get off to a good start to kick off this series. Yamamoto isn’t going to make that any easier on them.

In the bottom of the inning, we’re rolling the dice a bit going against the Dodgers. An early Shohei Ohtani homer in game one blew our NRFI in that one, but I like the chances in this one to help us rebound. Some of that is due to seeing Zack Littell on the hill. He may not have the best surface stats over the course of the year, but he has been phenomenal to start games. In the month of September – five starts – he didn’t allow a single first inning run. We’ll keep that trend going on Wednesday.

NRFI/YRFI Bet for October 1: No (TBD)
