MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – September 26

Baltimore Orioles vs. New York Yankees

First Pitch – 7:05 pm EST
Yankee Stadium – Bronx, NY
Broadcast – MLB TV

The Orioles will kick this one off as part of the closing of their disappointing season. A large part of that disappointment is based in how they’ve been swinging it. They came in with high expectations and are just 23rd in runs scoring on the year. To make matters better for us here, they are worse in the first inning. They rank 26th in the league in that category. Things won’t be easier with Will Warren on the bump. He’s been sharp lately – holding four of his last five opponents to two runs or less. I expect that to continue here as they look to end the season strong.

The Yankees have been dangerous to NRFI bettors all season. In fact, they spoiled one of ours on Thursday. However, the difference here is that Trevor Rogers is opposite of their hitters. He’s gone 11.0 straight innings without having allowed an earned run. The last 6.0 of those innings were against the Yankees. Not only did he go deep into that game without allowing a run, but he also held them to a single hit with seven strikeouts. He may not be able to do that twice in a row, but I do expect him to at least get us three quick outs.

NRFI/YRFI Bet for September 26: No (TBD)

Kansas City Royals vs. Athletics

First Pitch – 10:05 pm EST
Sutter Health Park – Sacramento, CA
Broadcast – MLB TV

The Royals take the top of the first in Sacramento to close out their season. They also have not been lighting the world on fire with their bats. They rank 26th in terms of run scoring. On top of that, they’ll have to deal with Luis Morales on Friday. He’s rocking a 3.07 ERA entering his final start of the season. He’s picked up 38 strikeouts in 44.0 innings and has been up against much better hitting teams than this Royals squad. Expect him to be firing on all cylinders to give us one last NRFI this year.

The bottom of the inning gives us another under the radar performer. Noah Cameron has sneakily thrown 133.2 innings this year and has maintained a sub-3.00 ERA. He’s allowed just five runs in 20.2 innings over his last three starts (a 2.17 ERA in that span). Those games came against the white hot Guardians, the Phillies and the Blue Jays. Facing the Athletics here will be a huge reprieve for him and he’ll cruise for us.

NRFI/YRFI Bet for September 26: No (TBD)
