No NFL tomorrow, and no WNBA Playoff action, either, means that we can hit the diamond once more for a winning best bet as the regular season heads toward its conclusion on Sunday. For my best bet for Wednesday, September 24th: MLB Predictions, we’re off to Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland, for a battle between two American League East teams who will not be extending their season past this weekend. Tampa Bay Rays vs Baltimore Orioles
Start Time: 6:35 PM EST
This has been a lost season for the Tampa Bay Rays and the Baltimore Orioles, as neither team will be making a postseason run this year. But at least the Orioles have come to life a bit in the last month or so, as a 12-8 run has made them a more respectable 74-83 on the year.
If the Orioles had gotten to play the Rays every game, they would have a far better record, as they have won three of four against Tampa this season, including two straight. Baltimore is also fairly respectable (there’s that word again) at home, going 38-41.
The home team sends a rejuvenated Tyler Wells to the hill to start on Wednesday, and he’s looked sharp in his three starts since returning from Tommy John surgery, going 2-0 with a 2.04 ERA and a 0.62 WHIP.
I like the Orioles’ dominance of the Rays to continue tomorrow evening in Charm City. Baltimore on the moneyline is my best bet for Wednesday.
