Champions League Round 1 Picks and Predictions

The wait is finally over. The 2025/26 Champions League season is finally upon us, and the first round is on schedule. It is never easy to predict the outcomes of the Champions League games, especially this early in the year, but we’re going to give our best to hit on all the selected matches we’ve singled out in this article. Let’s get this through together!

Juventus vs. Borussia Dortmund

You could say that in recent years BVB has a bigger CL pedigree than the Old Lady of Turin. Yet, at this stage of the season Igor Tudor and his boys have proven that they are a top dog in Italy. After their recent win at the Derby D’Italia, Juventus has proven that they have the needed quality to battle it out on all fronts. Yildiz, Openda, David, and Vlahovic, backed by Locatelli, Thuram, and the rising star of Adzic have enough firepower to go against Dortmund. The German side won during the weekend at Heidenheim, but were less than impressive. Juve wins with 2.01 odds and this is a good moment to go and find some of the best crypto casino bonuses and put it all down on this game.

Tottenham vs. Villarreal

The Spurs have a new coach, and Thomas Frank has proven so far that he is up for the task. The duel between the London side and the Yellow Submarine is going to be one of the more interesting on schedule today, and we are sure that it is going to be a game with plenty of goals. Both sides have started their domestic campaigns on a high note, with sporadic defeats here and there, showing that both teams have aspirations of becoming regulars in the Champions League. While we give a slight edge to the English team, we’re not convinced that they’re going to win this one straight out, but we are sure that it’s going to be over 2.5 goals during the regular 90 minutes. The odds on this betting market are set at 1.79, and it’s more than worth covering.

Bayern vs. Chelsea

The London Blues are one of the teams with the biggest budget in the world. They’ve bought and sold more than 50 players during the last three years. This much of a turnaround has deprived the team of chemistry needed to win games at the highest level. Yes, Chelsea has won the first edition of the Club World Cup, but we’re not sure just how serious were all the other teams competing at that tournament. On Wednesday, when they meet with Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena, the likes of Harry Kane, Michael Olise, Joshua Kimmich, Dayot Upamecano, and Manuel Neuer, the Bavarian side will leave the field defeated. While there’s a lot of potential in the likes of Delap, Palmer, Neto, Fernandez, Caicedo, and Joao Pedro, we just don’t see Chelsea pulling out a positive result from Germany.

PSG vs. Atalanta

The days in which Atalanta was seen as a fairytale of European football are over. Gasperini is no longer the coach and it is evident that the team has lost its magic under Ivan Juric. Back in the day, we wouldn’t be too sure that PSG would win this one with ease, but now, we can almost guarantee it. Luis Enrique runs a well oiled machine and with Dembele, Duoe, Barkola, Kvaratskhelia, Neves, Vitinha, Marquinosh, Ruiz & Co playing at the top of their abilities we can’t see Atalant pulling out an upset in Paris.  While the team from Bergamo has kept the core of their team with the likes of Charles De Ketelaere, Ademla Lookman, Mario Pasalic, and have added Nikola Krstovic and Nicola Zalewski, that’s just not enough to compete against PSG.

Liverpool vs. Atletico Madrid

A duel of philosophies is what awaits us at Anfield when Arne Slot’s Liverpool meets Simeone’s Atleti. The Reds have opened the season with four wins, and that’s without playing their best game. We believe that this European night at Anfield will open up the likes of Salah, Wirtz, and Gakpo who have been silent so far in the season. Madrid outlet has had a slow start to the season, and we just don’t see them being competitive when they travel to Merseyside. Simeone will be hoping that the likes of Oblak, Lenglet, Le Normand, Ruggeri, and  Llorent will be able to hold their own in front of Ekitike, Isak, Salah, Gakpo, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, and Wirtz. Upfront, it will be Griezmann and Alvarez hoping that there will be a few decent balls their way. To pull anything from this duel, Atletico Madrid will have to take any chance that comes their way. We’re sure that Simeone’s team will be out for a draw, but if you’re wise you’ll cover Liverpool with good odds on their win being set at 1.62.
