The WNBA Playoffs haven’t been kind to my daily best bets, but the only way to fix that is to keep betting! Classic degenerate logic there. For my best bet for Friday, September 19th: WNBA Predictions, we’re off to the PHX Arena (catchy name) in Phoenix, Arizona, where the defending champions have their backs against the wall. Let’s go!
Best Bet For Friday (September 19th): WNBA Predictions
New York Liberty vs Phoenix Mercury
Start Time: 9:00 PM EST
After beating the Phoenix Mercury – on their home floor – by seven points in Game 1, the defending WNBA champion New York Liberty were sitting pretty. However, star forward Breanna Stewart sprained her MCL in overtime of that game, and was a non-factor in Game 2 (six points on six shots) as the Mercury evened the series by blowing out the Liberty in Brooklyn by 26 points.
Which brings us to a do-or-die Game 3 for both teams tomorrow night in the desert. You can expect Stewart to suit up and grit through it tomorrow, but you can’t count on her being much of a factor – MCL sprains don’t heal overnight. And the Liberty, who were a weak road team this season (10-12), while the Mercury were 15-7 at home, already stole a game on the road.
My line is Phoenix -3, so the Mercury on the spread is my play. The defending champs get bounced in the first round and go home early.
