Noche UFC: Lopes vs Silva – Predictions & Best Bets
Rob Font ML (-130) vs. David Martinez
Perhaps my very favorite of my Noche UFC picks is Font on the moneyline. I understand why people are excited about David Martinez. Not only does he have a solid record, but he looked sharp in his UFC debut. However, this is a big ask for someone in just their second UFC fight. In addition to that, Rob Font has seen a resurrgence as of late thanks to his move to TriStar. After losing three in a row, he’s rattled off wins over Kyler Phillips and Jean Matsumoto – both fights the public seemed to doubt him on. He’s still good at keeping himself safe and a sharp technical striker. Both of those things help him cruise to a victory here.
Quang Le ML (+115) vs. Santiago Luna
Quang Le bursted into the UFC with a late notice fight against Chris Gutierrez. After looking solid in a losing effort, he put up a dud in his second fight. While he rebounded from that with the dominant performance we had been looking for against Gaston Bolanos, the market still hasn’t bounced back on him. We can get him as an underdog here in what should be a solid matchup. Luna loves to shoot a takedown and Le is exceedingly hard to get to the mat. On the feet I think he’s too much and too powerful for Luna.
Zach Reese – Wins via (T)KO (+155)
Although his last two wins have come via decision, Zach Reese has great finishing abilities. Those were his only two decisions in his career and one of them was because Jose Medina seems to be nearly impossible to knockout. Now Reese gets Sedriques Dumas, who has run into trouble in and out of the cage. He’s been knocked out two of his last three fights in the cage, and also missed a recent fight due to having an ankle bracelet on that stopped him from leaving the state.
Claudio Puelles ML (-130) vs. Joaquim Silva
Puelles is riding a two-fight losing streak, which is why we see a line this close. However, every time he’s fallen and taken some time off in the past, he’s come back a muh better and more dangerous fighter. With an opponent like Silva who gets comfortable on his back easily, I see Puelles getting top control and dominating the locale of this fight. I wouldn’t be surprised if the ground and pound takes over as well.
Jose Medina vs Dusko Todorovic – Over 1.5 Rounds (-200)
As mentioned prior, Jose Medina has looked virtually unable to be knocked out. He notoriously got a contract on Dana White’s Contender Series for taking a good beating. While both of these fighters can hit hard and neither has won that many fights, they are not easy to finish. You can get some good money on both of them just surviving for a bit in this one.
Diego Ferreira – Wins via KO (+500)
If you’ve read these before, you know I like to end them with a bomb. My Noche UFC picks are no different.
40-year old Diego Ferreira came up as a jiu jitsu specialist, but as he’s gotten older he’s found that old man strength. Two of his last three fights have seen him end things with his hands. Anthony Hernandez is a guy who loves to stand and scrap and has been knocked out by guys who don’t hit as hard as Ferreira. The thought of the takedown could possibly lower Hernandez’s guard a bit too – opening things up for a knockout blow and a big cash.
