Chicago Cubs vs Atlanta Braves
Start Time: 7:15 PM EST
Tomorrow’s matchup between the Chicago Cubs and the Atlanta Braves is a tale of an overachieving team and an underachieving one. The Cubs, projected at 85.5 wins heading into the season, already have 81 in the win column with 19 games left on the schedule. The postseason is almost a lock for them.
The Braves, wracked by injuries all season – most notably every starting pitcher on their opening day roster – were supposed to be in the 93.5 win range this year. Sitting at 64-79 as these words are being typed, it’ll take some fancy math beyond my understanding for them to get to 94 wins this year.
With something to play for still, the Cubs are going to win tomorrow on the road. They are the superior team, with the superior starting pitcher on Tuesday (Cade Horton vs Spencer Strider), and they’re good on the road (37-34), while the Braves are mediocre at home (34-35). And we’re getting Atlanta as a dog on the moneyline.
